Working full time and homeschooling?

Published

Anyone working three 12s and homeschooling? I've been homeschooling my three kiddos (13, 10, & 7) for 6 years now so we've gotten that part mostly hammered out though we have our days. Right now we school for about half a day 4 days a week (Monday through Thursday) with my oldest doing most of her work independently. I've worked part-time (doing 8's) while doing nursing pre-reqs with a modicum of success and poor organization skills. We have recently moved to a new state to due to a change in positions for my husband (who is supportive) and I have some great opportunities in acute care as a CNA. I'm not currently in school and don't plan to consider it for a year, possibly two. I'm planning to do this with a good organizational schedule for their school and housework on my days off. We're living in one state and supporting a house for sale in another so extra income is greatly needed. So anyone else working 12s and homeschooling have some sage advice to share?

first off God Bless you for home schooling your kids. I think it has become such an unselfish thing moms are doing and rewarding experiance for kids. I personally can not give you advise, but my SIL has 6 kids all ages 9 and under and she has been a nurse for a hospital and now a retirment village that is not so demanding of her time. I just wanted to encourage you that this road you have decided to take can not be an easy one but I just wanted to give you a hug and pat on the back for doing this for your family.

YES YES YES it can be done. I worked full time and homeschooled my two kids for 4 years. You just need organization skills. Most days, our schoolwork was done by 11am (I worked 7p to 7a). Let me know if you need information or have further questions. Private message me and I can help! I loved it.

I work part time and homeschool my boys.....but 3 12's is doable.......on the days you are working you can have them do things they don't need you for---reading assignments, research and such on the computer. I love the flexibility of homeschooling and now that my boys are older love seeing the end results---well almost (one graduates this fall, one is a sophomore and an 8th grader.)

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I feel like I did pretty well with one of my two interviews last Friday, now keeping fingers crossed for the phone call with that job offer! :)

I am homeschooling my preschooler who is 4.5. I work nights. We home school on days off and do field trips on days off.
