I have had 3. All of my extended preceptors. During my two internships, the nurses that I was paired with was everything I wanted to be as a nurse. The most recent one with my capstone was so pt and did everything you listed above. They made me feel so welcomed and even went to the manager to tell them to hire me......AND THEY DID!!!!!!

I have just ended a rotation in which I've had the most awesome experiences, in large part due to the nurse I was working with. She took a lot of time explaining to me about assessments, why she was asking patients the questions she was asking, why she was or wasn't concerned about findings, etc. I've learned so much from her, and I am grateful to have spent so much time with her. I also liked this woman immensely, and it was very hard to say goodbye to her today and move on to my next rotation. As I left, we gave each other a hug, and she whispered in my ear, "You'll do great." It was the biggest confidence booster from a woman I admire very much, both professionally and personally.
If there's a nurse you've worked with who has done a lot to turn you from a nursing student into a nurse, post here!
