Is that even legal?
LOL, I had to look that up to see what Godwin's Law was. That is pretty true! Inevitably every president is either compared to Hitler or the Antichrist.

Concerned that my "type B" personality won't cut it!
Wow I have never heard a Type B personality admit they are a Type B personality. I think they were all in denial..... LOL.

MCI Newport News, Riverside or Sentara nursing schools??
I am not sure about the GPA needed for the program. I had a 3.5 from my previous degree and I was told that was awesome by my adviser, but I found it just average. So it makes me wonder what kind of GPA's do they see? My classes transferred with A's, I have heard from some other students that if your grades are below a B they will not transfer. I can tell you that our grading scale is insanity! You need a 76% to pass every class, The grading scale is (3% and up A, 83 (I think) and up a B, and 76 to 81 is C. There is no D in the grading scale. You have to get a 3.7 GPA to get any honors. I hope that helps! Interviews are going on now for the Jan 24th program start date.

Huge Dilemma...please help!
Geesh, good luck! I have no idea what I would do, but I think I might go to the interview over the ceremony. I live in Hampton Roads too and it is tough out here, from what I hear from nurses. Have you looked into Riverside or federal jobs on base or at the VA?

Working with an awesome nurse? Post here!
I just want to say thank you for posting something positive! There is a lot of negativity thrown around on this site and your post is refreshing! P.S. When I start school I hope to be as lucky as you have been and have some great nurses teaching me.

Is that even legal?
Wow that is pretty harsh. I worked as a technical recruiter and have an HR degree. There is a big difference between "Bona Fide" which allows you to discriminate if it specifically relates to the work, like a male model for a male clothing line and what you are doing. We all have stereotypes but not hiring someone with a small tattoo on their wrist when they aced an entrance exam or are the smartest kid in the block, that is just wrong. Using practices like that should get you fired and if you worked for me you would be fired if I read this!

Can't wait until it's my turn to be an RN
I can not wait either!

G.P.A....
I was told that my school looks at both. My admissions adviser had to recommend me for the program and before she did that she was all about my GPA from my last degree. Then once I got started on the program bandwagon, the Director was interested in my pre-req GPA. I think it depends on the school but it really helps when you have shown you are competent in your studies elsewhere, I think it makes you a stronger candidate.

Developing Robots for the ER: What Do You Think?
Well either way someone has to be there to operate the robots, do maintenance on the robots, and monitor the patients; so there are some jobs to be made. But as far as nurses go, I do not foresee it affecting RN's since they are needed at the bedside but I do see it affecting LPN and below.

Outraged by no more privacy
Liberty is the ability to make free choices and privacy is the ability to not be held accountable by anyone for your choices. If there is no accountability there is no safety, thus making laws irrelevant.

Outraged by no more privacy
You have a profound misunderstanding of textbook definitions, if you are relating your quote to what I said. Liberty is: "freedom of choice", "freedom from arbitrary or despotic government or control.", "freedom from control, interference, obligation, restriction, hampering conditions, etc.; power or right of doing, thinking, speaking, etc., according to choice." So what Ben Franklin was saying that giving up your ability to be free and make your own choices for temporary security is ignorant, not sacrificing elements of privacy to ensure public safety. By being transparent you do not give up your freedoms, no one is interfering in your choices by fingerprinting you. But thank you for your attempt at philosophy
