Work hours

Hey everyone, I was just wondering if lpns can make their own schedule in their work setting such as working three days a week with 16 hour shifts? or is this just for rns?

It really depends on the employer.

Mine has a category known as "casual" where there are no benefits but you let them know when you want to work and they call you if they have a match. Not bad if you don't need a reliable income.

In my part of the world 16 hour shifts are technically illegal as the provincial labour code says anything over 12 hours is illegal.

This all depends on a few things. I myself work 3 12hr shifts a week for full time. We also have contingent nurses who work 1 or 2 12 hr shifts a week as needed, they look at the schedule and accept any shifts they want. There are also nurses that work 3 days and work a day elsewhere as a contingent, and still have 3 days off per week.

It really depends on where you want to work and part time, full time, contingent, agency...the choices are limitless.
