Work in other countries after graduating in the Philippines

Hello,

I am currently a sophomore at Far Eastern University in the Philippines. I am a United States citizen, born and raised there, and just came here to get my degree in nursing. Now there are a whole bunch of issues going on with the California board and i might not get to work there. So i was wondering what countries accept the degree I will get from FEU? Up for suggestions, advice, and pretty much anything

If looking at another country can you not look at another state?

Countries? Yea, what's wrong with NV, NY, FL? There are several other states that you can still stay in the States, it's not all closed yet, lol and I say that with a light heart, as it does seems like it's getting harder as many have said with the terrible economies everywhere, every country as far as real job opportunities, be them, USC's or international ones.

Since your a sophomore in college I would suggest you keep up with the updates on some states. Even though California closed it's doors to international grads there are other states out there such as Michigan, Alaska, Hawaii, New York etc. Some states may close their doors to international grads in 2-3 years.

The only country I can think of that's looking for nurses is Australia. I hear it is pretty nice over there. A friend of mine graduated a year before me and when I graduated she was enrolled in school so she can become an RN over there. No exams over there I believe. If you plan to work on other countries you should also consider the language barrier. Not everyone can speak in English.

You still have time to fix your cases since your a second year. you have another 2 years left. When going to hospital duties I suggest that you complete the cases that corresponds to the lecture given that year. So when you have your maternal and child lecture I suggest complete your DR/Cord Tie cases. Then you can complete your OR cases after. It depends on what year you have those lectures.

Thank you very much! Its just soo damn stressful to be here and hear all these crazy things about California. It's a little depressing to think about not being able to work where I was raised but I know im going to finish this thing no matter what. I figured as all the issues are related to the concurrency thing then it should be pretty easy to fix but it is a hassle trying to get to anyone who can fix it, it doesn't seem to be a really big deal for them.

Well there are several threads of foreign grads why they were denied by California and other states. The reason is because their cases were not completed with the corresponding lecture years. In the Philippines most students completed their DR cases on their 3rd-4th year because there were too many students to accommodate when they were a 2nd year student(when students had their lecture on maternal/child/delivery) When I was a second year student we had our clinicals at a medical ward. We were never exposed to the Delivery Room due to an over population of nursing students. I had to complete my cases my 4th year.

But if you're cases were completed on the same year with the corresponding lecture, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to apply for the NCLEX in California. It seems that nursing students graduating year 2013 on-wards may be safe from the concurrency issue since they still have a chance to "fix" their cases.

You might be "ok", as it was reported that those badly needed changes have recently been done to the curriculum to the nursing programs. In that case, she stated that her relatives and others are already doing their courses both clinical AND theory in the SAME EXACT SEMESTER.

But you can verify that yourself, if that's how your current classes/courses are being conducted now, do you find that the courses are now being taught correctly?

Not only just in CA, there are right now 12 other states and who knows if other States may follow in the future.

Very true. by the end of the year I'm guessing half of the states will enforce strict regulations.

Yes that is exactly what I have been reading everywhere that I look. As long as we do our cases along side our theory we should be ok. The classes are being taught decently, I mean there could be some changes to make them much better but so far so good. Thank you for your reply, I appreciate it.
