I had been calling the nurse recruiter and she told me last time i talked to her before i had an interview that she probably wouldnt post a new grad position online since she already had so many people emailing and calling her about it. So my advice would be to call her ASAP and send your resume to her and dont forget to follow up!

O and the interview must have went well because they offered me a job on the spot :yeah:!! Best of luck to you!

con[color=yellow]gratulations! do you mind sharing some of the questions they asked you?

Wow! Congrats on getting the job, I too would love some guidance on what type of questions were asked, what they were looking for etc.,

Did you just email the recruiter your resume and call her repeatedly to ask if she had a job opening? curious as to how that works when they don't have openings posted....

Thanks GoldenGirl22 and life_student!

So what happened was that like a month or so ago I had called the nurse recruiter and asked her when they would be posting applications for New grad's and she said well why dont you just send me your resume and ill forward it to the manager of the area i want. So I did that and called back the next week to check on it and the new grad app's and she said she had forwarded it but had not heard anything back yet. And she said she probably wouldnt be posting the app online because so many people had already sent their resumes to her for the new grad positions. And then like the next day or so someone called me in for an interview!

As far as questions go...I interviewed with two nurse managers and they had a packet of questions. Each person asked about 5 questions. Most were general scenario q's such as

"Times can be hectic on the floor, how do you keep concentrated and focused to get everything done"

"Tell me about a time where something was forgotten, tell me what you did to correct the problem"

"Tell me about a time when you had to accomodate to circumstances beyond your control"

"Some patients or family memebers can become unruly, tell me about a time when this has happened and what did you do"

"Why do you want to work in NICU?"

"Why woman's"

Now most of those questions are not word for word how they were asked but the general jist of them. They wanted you to state the scenario, what you did, and the outcome of things. I did not feel intimidated by them because the mangers said its ok if you dont have an answer right now we can come back to it. And there was no right or wrong answer they said, they just wanted you to relax. They went over alot of stuff about the floor so they answered my questions that I was going to ask. They were very nice and gave me time to answer but I usually did within about 5-10 sec. If you have any more questions ill be more than happy to help.
