With TEAS in Mind, What should be the order of Classes?

Published

I am about to begin one of my first pre-reqs. this Summer, Psychology and it hit me. For "Fall" I want to be able to prepare myself to take the TEAS exam right away before I begin the rest of my pre-req's, since they are vital to my acceptance into Impacted Universities in southern California. But is it best to take the TEAS after these courses? which courses offer the best education and preparation for the info you will be tested on the TEAS?

So if you did great on TEAS and feel that one course may have helped more than the other, please give me your suggestions.

The courses are as followed:

ANATOMY 120 REFRESH

ANATOMY 150 & 151

CHEMISTRY 100

MICROBIOLOGY 200

COLLEGE ALGEBRA

SOCIOLOGY

Any thoughts?

How many times does your school allow you to take the TEAS? My school only allowed two attempts a semester, with a total amount of four attempts. I had taken A&P 1, Micro Biology, Chem 111, Eng 111, Psy, SDV, Com, before I took my TEAS, I thought it was extremely helpful to have taken these classes, however there was information on my TEAS test that I later learned in A&P II as well. I bought the ATI V TEAS prep book. This is the same company that makes the TEAS test. I memorized almost every stitch of information in this book and I passed my TEAS with 98%. You should buy this book (amazon has it pretty cheep, then you can sell it back) and once you know the information by heart take your TEAS. Make sure you know your stuff before you take the test, because the TEAS are timed, and you will only be allowed a certain amount of time for each question. Overall the TEAS were not as scary as I thought they would be. But it definitely takes a lot of studying in order to pass. Also there are some free practice problems on different websites that are helpfull. Hope this helps! GOOD LUCK!

My school said I have to take chemistry before I can apply to nursing school.

I would take the TEAS after your courses.

Sociology has nothing to do with your TEAS. As for the rest, you need to take them all before you take the TEAS. It really doesnt matter what order, because your going to have to refesh yourself on all of them before you take the test anyways. The math portion is very basic, but that can work again you. You have to know how to go from decimal>fraction>percent form between all of those.

Basically, know your general math, and be prepared to study the entire general bio book, BASIC chem, and A&P. Micro probably has the least amount of questions. Word of advice, try to take the test at a facility that does the paper/pencil method instead of computer. That way you can go in whatever order you want and can go back over your answers.

Thanks for the great advise. How can i find out about how the test will be proctored?

Thank YOU!! Now I will for sure buy the book. I bough the McGrwall Hill one, but it always helps when you include a score, says alot about the practise material.

I took the TEAS 2 months after I finished Physiology and by then I had already taken bio, chem, anatomy, and micro. I scored in the 99th percentile. Personally, I think it's crucial to already have the core science classes done before you attempt the TEAS. The programs I applied to only looked at the first score so I had to get it right the first time.

Soc is not going to show up and college algebra is probably not needed either. Most math problems are basic order of operations, long division, fractions, and absolute values.
