Winthrop University Hospital orientation

Published

Hey guys, I will be starting new nurse orientation at Winthrop next week and I was just wondering if any current employees can give me a heads up on what I can expect during orientation. Also anything specific I should focus on for the pharmacology exam besides calculations? Do they give you a study guide? Any info would be great. Thanks :)

If you don't mind me asking- is this orientation for a Med/Surg floor or for the ED-Fellowship?!

Med/surg floor

I know for the ED fellowship there is a medication calculation test, so i would think you'd have to take one also as a basic requirement. How did you go about applying? Did you contact the recruiter directly? If so, how long did the process take (i.e., waiting for interview, waiting time for call-back)? Sorry for the list of questions, but there isn't much info on this hospitals hiring process on allnurses- so any info is appreciated! :)

Someone that I know that works there contacted the recruiter on my behalf. A few days later, the recruiter contacted me and i went to meet with her the next day i think. A few days after that I was asked to come in for an interview with a nurse manager. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I didn't get that position but a couple months later more positions opened and the recruiter contacted me for an interview with another nurse manager on a unit I was really excited about. A few hours after the interview, the recruiter called me offering the job because orientation was starting in 3 weeks and they needed to get people started on the new hire paperwork. Orientation is great so far; pharm test was not bad at all. Everyday for the first 2 weeks (except one day on the unit) you are in the classroom listening to lectures from RNs from all different departments. If you have any other questions just lemme know. I don't mind talking about it :)

Thanks for all the info. I appreciate it! When is the sept orientation begin?

I just applied for a position on Winthrop's website, but was wondering if you had a recruiter's name/email address that I could send my resume to directly? Winthrop sounds like an amazing hospital, specialization in what seems like every area of medicine and very innovative. Best of luck!!

jessica - not sure exactly but I think it might be the first week in september.

christine - I'll send you a private message.

May i have the contact information for nurse recruiter at Winthrop University Hospital too? I am looking for a job as RN and i like the Winthrop University Hospital. If you could help me, i will really appreciate it.

Hi Cloud, apparently I can not send messages on here because I haven't been a member long enough; not sure if I can receive either. Would you mind emailing me the info @ [email protected] I would really appreciate it.

thanks, christine

From what I've gathered, the interview(s) to call back to decision seems to take awhile..?!

I have an interview with a Nurse Recruiter soon. I was wondering i anyone could let me know what kind of questions they ask
