Hi, just wanted to start a trend about where you applied, call backs, interviews and who all got hired.
Would love to hear your stories and anything else to help other graduating nurses.
Commonsense, St. Lukes, MD Anderson and Texas Children's offers internships too. There are also a lot of smaller hospitals all around Houston, branches of the Tenet system and the HCA hospitals.
Thank you Cindyrella, I'll graduate with my ADN so some of the internships are off limits. I checked out the St. Lukes and MD Anderson internships though and they're definitely worth a shot.
Hey everyone!
What are y'all doing to get interviews? If you don't mind sharing! I've applied online for EVERYTHING I am remotely qualified for and EVERY New Grad job I find but haven't gotten ANY call backs! I've had my resume reviewed by several people and that doesn't seem to be the problem. I do have an ADN but I'm already enrolled in a RN-BSN program. I have my license. GPA and test scores (HESI) are very good. I just don't know what else to do ... Any info/advice?
Thanks!:)

Hey Mam, you sound like a good candidate by paper. You never know how employers select potential GNs. Everywhere I applied, I attached a cover letter , resume and refrences . Certain hospitals that did not specific dates set up for interviews, I called them to find out. For example, The Woman's Hospital of Texas actually wanted you to call them if you applied to a staff position.
Other then that, praying and having patience is what I am doing. Give it some time before you stress out or give up.
PS, Glad you going back to get your BSN.

Great posts, I'll be looking for internships in the Houston area in June of 2012. So far I've found internships at Memorial Hermann, Christus St. Catherines, and Methodist (BSN only). I'm sure there's some other internship opportunities I've overlooked, can anybody think of any off the top of their head?
