Hi..Looking to get some infor on Wilmington NC area. Such as salary for nurses, I have 7 years step ICU experience. Sign on bonuses, housing cost, and how plentiful the jobs are. Thank you

Hey fiesty!! I live in Durham, which is about 20 min. from Raleigh.

The weather is nice. It snows in the winter, but not too much, and although the summers can be hot, it's not too bad. Fall and spring are great!

I live in a 2000sq ft. two story house, brand new when we bought it, on .76 acre lot. We paid $180k for it, which is a DEAL in this area. Normally, a house like mine goes for around $200-$210k in Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill, depending on where you look.

We really liked our realtor. Her name is Jenny Crittendon, and she works with Coldwell Banker realty in Chapel Hill. She mainly specializes in property in the Chapel Hill area (about 25 min. from Raleigh), but can give you lots of info for Durham and Raleigh as well as far as pricing goes.

There are LOTS of hospitals here, so you have a pretty big selection of where to go.

Starting pay for experienced nurses is around $18/hr. to $20/hr., depending on the unit and hospital.

We just bought a 20 yr old 1600 sq/ft home for 150K in North Raleigh. I only have 1 yr of nursing experience and my base pay is 17.35/hr. I love everything here, the seasons, the rolling hills, the variety of very green tree's, all the malls, parks, lakes, greenways, many hospitals to chose from. It really is a well planned out area and very beautiful from my perspective. My realtor was Wyn Steele (?).

FeistyNurse....one more thing (on the negative side), are the summers here. I hate July - August. It gets very hot and humid, makes it hard to breath. If your used to Cali weather, you will definately notice our hot humid summers! I love all the other 3 seasons though, very pleasant and lovely!

of North Carolina, you'll come to the Western Piedmont/Foothills/Mountains.

If you miss San Francisco, Asheville's the place, without the fog. Miss LA? Try Charlotte or Winston Salem, without the crime and pea-soup smog. The two ANCC-designated magnet hospitals are here as well. You can listen to the previous posters, but don't! There truly is more of North Carolina west of Raleigh!! :D beautiful

I agree, Asheville is beautiful! We vacation there alot (we're thinking about retiring there). But Charlotte, in my opinion, is one of the ugliest cities in NC (no offense). ;)

I don't live in Charlotte/hate to drive there/try to avoid it whenever I possibly can. But you know a Charlottean will post and get all huffy 'cause we left 'em out! :)
