Will they make her cut her hair?

You are reading page 3 of Will they make her cut her hair?

From what I know the hair is teased down to the scalp in uniform sized sections. There are waxes etc that are not petroleum based so the hair stays in place and can be washed like you would a sponge. This is from my son's friend who is a beauty college instructor. I probably have left out more than I remember.

The ONLY time I was ever warned about my hair was when I had it cut from almost waist length (braided and wound across) down to a "shag" Then the wanted it off my collar.

The two methods I've heard of are latching (which would be sort of like "teasing" the hair - for lack of a better word) and palm rolling which means that you roll sections of the hair in the palm of your hand. Waxes can be used, but there are alternatives to waxes as well. Some don't like to use waxes for obvious reasons.

This is my boyfriend and he has dreads, this is what they can look like for those of you who did know what they looked like, and his hair is clean. He works at the college in the admissions office for all types of people to see. He usually keeps it back out of his face and noone has a problem with it.

His hair is beautiful!

I thought dreads were the twisted tangled dirty messes. I guess I was wrong.

 .......yep i guess so....

Thanks I love his hair, its all about educating people about things that they dont know about so I thought he would be a good example.

p><p>I don

Clearly what he has is fine for a nurse. i don't have to understand how it is done.

I'm a nurse who washes bedridden ventilator dependent patients hair. I would certainly wash any patients hair if they want me to.

I've also had long tangled hair with lice. I had NO idea how to deal with it.

The patient claimed it was his dreds. He agreed to having a friend cut it. then Kwell.

Let me try to attach a photo of my beautiful neice. I don't know what she calls her braids. She swims, washes her hair, and it stays for many many weeks. There are attachments making it longer. I'm just a totally ignorant geek when it comes to style. SO Thank you for educating me!

He looks great!

I don't go to a hairdresser. I was truly ignorant about the terminology.

She's pretty! How old? 17? Those look like cornrows.

Then again, I have no clue. I've always had plain hair. I know that when we went to Jamaica, I wanted my hair braided so bad, but never got around to having it done.

How often does your niece have to have her braids redone?

You're not ignorant because you weren't sure what they were, just misinformed. Her hair looks like individual braids I wear my hair like that sometimes they look very nice though.

spacenurse your niece is a lovely young lady. i just had my hair braided for the summer. I got individual small braids (not tiny though) braided in with my shoulder length hair. We are in the pool a lot and go on houseboat vacation every summer and the beach so my hair gets pretty damaged if i don't do something to help protect it. I just started a year ago doing the braid thing in the summer and i love it. i don't see why the dreds can't be washed properly and pulled back. I don't have a problem with that. If ANYONE has smelly hair or poor hygiene, then the instructors will hopefully warn them about the problem and they can then take steps to improve the situation.

Thank you both for complimenting my neice. She is 18 and just finisher her first year of college. She has no thoughts of nursing.

This is the second year she had braids for the summer. They have a pool. She and friends are in and out of the water a lot.

I just do two braids to keep my hair from tangling in the ocean.

Yes her braids are very nice. I'm trying to find someone (reasonably priced) to braid my hair before nursing school starts. They will be microbraids though. If I can't find someone to do it in my price range; it'll probably be the style that your niece has.
