I didn't get into NS this year. So i have to wait to apply again next year. I am worried I will forget all the anatomy/physio/micro. What is your experience with this?

What were your grades in micro and anatomy? If you received anything below an A, I suggest you re-take those classes until you master the material.
I did not get into the nursing program the first time (fall 2009) I tried (and I had all A's and one B in english)because I did not complete micro, physiology and communication before the deadline. I completed those classes during my wait and got into the program on my second try (fall 2010).
I have an anatomy review book that I read throughout the year and I scanned over my micro and chem notes. Just review until the information becomes apart of your "everyday knowledge".

They say that if these classes were taken within the last two years, you should be fine. While going through a review A&P class I realized how much I forgot. The good thing is when brought back up your brain triggers and your like ohhh yeahhh:yeah:. I would suggest reviewing your texts and the web has great review quizzes and test. Mcgraw is a good review site. Also starting NS they will cover as you move forward. From what I'm reading I'm finding that knowing the physiology is the most important(how things function). Hope that helped.

I agree. I do best by revisiting the material just as I start to become unsure about it. At first it doesn't take long to get to that point. Eventually, I remain sure about that material. Some things stick better than others, so they need less frequent reinforcement.

I'm a little worried about the same thing. I took A&P a year ago, Micro & Nutrition more than a year ago and I start my nursing program next month. I was watching a National Geographic video about the human body (fascinating), anyway, it was going through various bodily functions such as digestion, respiration, etc. and I kept saying to myself "oh, yeah, I remember that", and before they named the structure, I was able to name most of them. I think that you'll find once you're in the program, it'll all come back to you (as long as you actually learned it while you took the class). It's not a bad idea to review some of your text beforehand, though.

Gumby - do you remember the name of the National Geographic video that you watched? Was it rented, online or on tv? It really sounds like a good refresher - I will be starting NS in March and I too am worried about forgetting things.

I disagree with the poster who suggested taking everything over if you didn't get an "A" . That's just outrageous! To answer your question, you won't forget what you learned. I think our minds store away all of the info that we don't use in our everyday lives, then if/when the subject comes up it triggers that knowledge we already have on the subject. Just keep your notes and review from time to time, and more than likely you'll be fine.
Good Luck with nursing school next year!!
Sure, it's called "Inside the Living Body". It follows the body of a female from birth to old age and is filmed with microscopic cameras inside the body. It was absolutely fascinating and a good reminder of various A&P info. Although, it was filmed for the general public, so it skips over some things and doesn't go into that much detail, but the views of the inside of the body are amazing. One segment of the movie actually follows food from the stomach through the digestive tract. So cool! Oh, I rented it on Netflix. I'm not sure if Blockbuster would have it, but your library might.

I got A in anatomy and microbiology....but I don't agree with you when you said if she has a grade lower then a B she should retake those classes.Just because someone got B+ or a B it doesn't mean that the person who got an A is smart and the B student is dumb...depends on test stills. I know people who got A's in nursing classes and I swear they ask some stupid questions and also have no clue what is going on in clinicals.
Don't retake the classes just review those books.
Shoot I got an A in those classes and it is impossible to remember everything...I forgot a lot of things and the professors know that.
