Hello,

Can anyone help?

I have mild hypothoidism and am only on 25mcg's thyroxine daily. Other that that I am a healthy 24 yer old.

What is the medical for and will this stop me passing? Will it affect health insurance in the states? Will it cost more money to get insurance??

Thanks

should not affect your application but may have an impact on health insurance and you may find you are not covered for a certain period of time as it will be classed as pre existing

Why would you want to leave beautiful Scotland, and especially Edinburgh? If I didn't have family here, I would be over there in a heart beat. I just love it over there. Have family on the Isle of Mull. Best of luck on coming to America!:welcome:

I do love Edinburgh!! This is home. I have lived here all my life and I will return. Maybe it is just the old saying, 'the grass is always greener on the other side' (of the Altlantic).

Thanks for the luck though, I'll need it!!!

I had a thyroidectomy years ago and have been taking 100mcg thyroxine daily ever since. I can assure you it will not affect your immigration, but it will be classed as 'pre-existing' for the purposes of health insurance, so I doubt you'll get cover for any problems associated with your hypothyroidism.

You might want to take into consideration the cost of getting your prescriptions here.
