Will this effect me?????

Published

I have one little problem. I have trouble explaining things. When I explain, I'll rephrase a lot, and sometimes I will actually forget my point so then I'll get a blank mind. This happens for like everything.. I can't really think before I speak, I can only visualize and this causes me to forget or rephrase my words. I can teach Algebra 2 but even though I know it so well, I still have this problem. Constantly rephrasing because my first words did not come out clear and then getting this blankness in mind.

Can I still be a nurse?? I took A & P already but This explaining thing is holding me back

I can write, type to explain much better, but I will need an eraser for writing because I do the exact same thing.

idk about all of this but i think i should get tested for ADD! i have all these symptoms and more! i find myself calling objects by the wrong name. once i asked my fiance "did you put a spoon in here?" referring to a coke can with a straw in it. i meant to say straw, but spoon came out!

Talk to your doc about getting a referral to a speech-language pathologist. They can work with you on some strategies for overcoming this. Good luck!

reading all you guys posts made me think I,too, may have ADHD.... LOL

Some people are gifted with the ability to articulate more than others, and some are not.

Just like any other abilities.

I don't think that has anything to do with either you could be a good nurse or not.

I, too, have that problem. I get sidetracked alot when I explain things.

I think it has to do with being nervous and just need more practice on it.

I usually write it down what I am going to say, or make a few bullet points before I speak. that helps alot.

I am a good nurse, and strive to be better everyday!

You, too, can be a good nurse. Don't get discouraged. :nurse:

I I'm like you. Sometimes I have a hard time explaining things. A lot of people have told me that I'm very smart, but deep inside of me I don't feel that way sometimes. I had an example today when I had to explain to somebody the relationship between hypotensive and dehydration. I had a brain fart. I'm very good with explaining the meaning of words, synonyms or antonyms, but it comes to pathophysiology, I'm stuck. I'm glad that I'm not the only "nurse" who has trouble with words.

Right side of my head is flat at the start of the ear.. How can I still function normally? Not sure lol. But medication for my ADD helps with this. I'm exactly like you lol. I'm glad I'm not the only one, I usually feel like I'm dumber than others too and I feel dumb when I try explaining things and it comes out bad. Sometimes I'll have trouble explaining simple things around the house. I still can explain though, thank god!

I. Glad I'm not the only one, I felt so alone! I think if I keep trying my best I can make it! thanks
