There used to be one thread that got humongous. Then, the mods split it to two threads, one for current/past students, and one for prospective students; both have been humongous. Other threads about the same subject will go unnoticed. There really is no rhyme or reason. If you look throughout the site, you will see the same topics being rehashed over and over as the years go on. There really should be a set limit, such as stop and start a new thread at 750 or 1000 posts, or whatever. Threads are unwieldy long before they reach 10,000 posts.

There is a "sticky" at the top of the forum:

Not quite sure why, but it seems like most of the ISU students seem to post in one thread and make it huge, vs. starting new threads like you have. But there are several in the first three pages of this forum. It could also be that there are more EC students active here vs. ISU students. No special treatment.
a quick view of the first page of the distant learning site indicates a need for website housekeeping. while i appreciate the rationale, the distant learning site appears to be predominantly devoted to excelsior while other distant learning programs are dumped into one or two huge sites. one would think that there is a bias toward excelsior.
let's look at the first page of the distant learning site as an example--here are some of the excelsior posts on page 1:

it only seems fair to use the same rationale for excelsior as used for other distant learning programs.
to eliminate the need to wade through all the excelsior posts to find the appropriate distant learning program, let’s start an excelsior only site. feel free to contact me personally if there is a problem.
You have to also remember that moderators and administrators (as far as I know) are volunteers and not paid. They probably have enough on their hands just dealing with inappropriate posting and such. There really is no time for forum housekeeping unless one of them wants to "live" on the site which I doubt will happen. People post the way they want to post, even when there are clear guidelines. Just the way it goes.
There isn't a bias toward Excelsior. It is the distance program in the US that has the largest number of students. More Excelsior students choose to post here than other students.
I appreciate your rationale and applaude you for your volunteerism on this site; however, that does not explain the need for website housekeeping.
My question remains: why should we wade through so many Excelsior posts when it would be easier to have an Excelsior only site--the way this site has for ISU posts. Whether or not Excelsior has more students, etc is an invalid rationale for forcing people to trudge through numerous posts that have nothing to do with their program.
Not aware of any singling out of ISU posts. There is a distance learning forum for all distance learning program concerns. If you want Excelsior posts to be segregated out, then make the suggestion to the site administrators through the suggestions forum or contact the administration forum. You can find administrator contacts by looking at the site map. It is up to the administrators to decide how they want to set up the different forums.
So noted. Thank you for your response.

so demanding and you are not even a paying customer!
i did not pay any subscription either but you don't see me demanding things on this board. this forum section is called "distance learning for nursing". it does not say "excelsior college only". it just happens that there are more excelsior students active here so what can you do.

Megan S. I have read both of your threads and you seem to be very angry about the ISU threads being merged. I am so sorry that this site is not meeting your expectations. Every blue moon, someone comes on asking about ISU and there is just not that many people who frequent this board to answer your questions. I think the moderators manage this board quite well.
Channaxmom is the only person who I know of that is in the ISU program. Try PM her and see if she can answer your questions or give you support. I do remember that she recommended a while back that the ISU threads be separated for current students in the program and students that were intrested in the program. She went to the moderators and asked them to merge the threads and they did it.
Like Caliotter 3 suggested, talk to the administrator about your concerns because the negative vibes your sending out in your post will not get your concerns addressed or your questions answers. I hope that someone reads your thread and can help you with ISU program.
I note that there are many, many threads for other distant learning sites about various subjects, but when I try to start a new thread for ISU, it is dumped in one huge single distant learning thread. What gives. Why not have one thread for Excelsior, one for other distant learning sites the way ISU distant learning is treated?
Megan -- if you respond in the existing thread, it will remain in the existing thread. If you start a new post, it becomes a new thread. It's that simple. No one is "dumping" your posts anywhere; you are choosing where you post. I'm not sure exactly where the disconnect is.
There are more EC students here than others, but that is no reason to start a separate forum. We're all distance learners. There are plenty of Chamberlain students (like me) here as well, but we mostly end up with threads like the ISU ones -- many pages long, because we all seem to respond to each other in a few threads vs. starting new ones.
