I can remember being 12 years old and telling my parents that I wanted to be a nurse. Nursing is something that had appealed to me at ages younger than 12. I believe that part of the reason is that as a kid, I was in the hospital a lot. I had two heart surgeries: one 1 month and the other at 4 years old, 2 eye surgeries, kidney surgery, and one bladder surgery. This obviously meant constant hospital visits for check ups (mostly heart check ups. PS I'm a healthy 22 year old able to do any activity w/o limitations) I guess seeing the nurses in action made me want to pursue the career

I'm a nurse and I find your story inspiring. Best of luck to you!

Your healthcare experiences will help you as a nurse and you will understand what the patients are going through. Good Luck! The only caveat is health insurance is not very good and if you have chronic health problems it will costs you hundreds if not thousands a year! Every year health insurance just gets worse, more money for premiums and more out of pockets. Your best bet is working for the govt or VA as they have much better insurance than the rest of us!

Can certainly see how you admire nurses.
However, you have seen a lot. Would there be another position in the health care field that would be a better fit?
