hi everyone! :) the "daily motivator" posted here was taken from the "myway.com site where i also have email service. anyway...in reading this daily motivator, it made me think of why i became a nurse in the first place, when i lost my thunder for being a nurse, and why i'm working as a nurse now without much heart in it. :stone
can you see yourself in this motivator? how many of you wish you were doing something else with your life? how can i get re-motivated about working as a nurse? i need the income, so right now i can't just not work in nursing. where else would i earn enough to support myself and the debts i've created for myself?
why?
why did you get out of bed this morning? why are you reading this message? look at your list of things to do today. why has each item been added to the list? for what reasons do you work, love, play, strive and pray?
you've gotten good at going through the routine, but perhaps you've lost touch with the reasons why you're doing it all in the first place. stop for a moment and think about why.
the reasons are there. buried under the noisy complications of daily life is the person you truly wish to be and things which you long to achieve. in some way, whatever you're doing at any moment is connected to those reasons. but if you've lost touch with the reasons, the connection may be distorted and your actions may be less effective than they could be.
when you remember why, you get where you wish to go with much more speed and effectiveness. take the time and make the effort to stay in touch with why. know what drives you, and let it take you wherever you wish to go.

At least the crap is real and the human politics have real lives hanging in the balance that I can do something about...and for that I will get out of bed and goto work...
Life sucks when the only reason you have to get out of bed is to make money.

Sometimes, I have to decide that I'm a happy person, and that I'm happy to be there. It does help when I can hold and comfort a baby, and have them snuggle up to the "sweet spot" (see avatar) and sleep. Gives me an internal smile that's really good.
Work can be fun, I try to make sure of it. I like making co-workers laugh, and I'm usually good at it. I practice my Spanish and a little Tagalog @ work. Somedays my Spanish is great, other days, I give up and find someone to translate. I get tired of telling grandmothers it's not good to feed a 6 hr old baby 2 ozs of formula. (I really liked the one who told her daughter that I didn't know anything! I said, No es verdad!!! She was only slightly embarrassed.)
Lots of political stuff at work, but I keep my head down and do my thing, try to stay out of the line of fire. We'll see....
Sometimes when you're feeling like cr**, try telling yourself something to the effect of -- let's not take it out on everyone else. Let's not even let them know there is a problem. Boss your feelings around instead of the other way around. And make sure you take your antidepressents. Better living thru chemistry. Or pharmacology.
Hug often.
