Why am i being asked to change my major?

Published

Okay so i'm leaving one community college and transfering to another CC closer to my home. My problem is i cannot get my student loans rolling because they are telling me that i have to change my major. I don't understand why. They should already have it in my transcript from the other community college. Evidentlly they have it in my transcript that i am in the nursing program. I'm not in the nursing program yet, i am still pre-nursing, so that is why i need to change my major. But now i have no idea what i need to even change it to. And because i am going to another school i am required to have different classes for their nursing program when the time comes. But i don't plan to apply for their nursing program so should i be majoring in just general pre-nursing, and take only the classes that i need, and not the ones i would need for their nursing program or follow their nursing program and take some classes that i don't even need at all for the colleges i am applying to?

Hey, Smadar

Sorry for your frustration!!! There are a lot of variables that could apply. If you haven't already, make an appt. ASAP with an academic advisor! They should be able to give you info on what the situation is and hopefully how to fix it! At least, it will be a start.

Good luck!

Thanks! my problem is i have already registered for classes and i cannot complte my finacial aid until i fix the problem, first day of class is the 27th and i have no finacial aid.

I'm not sure if this advice is universal for all colleges but, this is what happened to me. I was attending a cc to take my pre-reqs for a nursing program at another college.( a four year).SO, I had to change my major at the cc to Libral Arts in order to transfer all of my credits to my four year college in which I am taking my nursing classes now. Basically, at the cc, there were so many classes that were required for my goal of ns, that I had to graduate from there! :uhoh3: It all transfered as a whole. I hope this is helps.
