Who's taken the TEAS v more than once?

Published

I guess I'm looking for a bit of encouragement here. I took the Teas (paper and pencil) last weekend and I didn't score as well as I was hoping. Becoming an RN has been my dream for a number of years and the TEAS is the last thing I need in order to complete my application. With that said, my nerves got the best of me and I did poorly in my strongest section and ok in the others. I did worse on the actual exam in my strongest area than I did on the practice exam! And, by a lot I'd like to add.

Is there anyone here who has take the exam a second time and done a lot better? What helped you? I have this fear at the back of my mind that'll do worse the next time because I'll be even more nervous knowing that this is my final shot at the exam. Any advise or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I did horrible first time. I scored very high in all of the sections except for science, I scored a 16% on it. I. Finally studied an scored an 85% on science 4 days later.

Thanks so much RNStudent! That is very encouraging! What did you use to study that helped you to increase your score by so much?

The first time I took TEAS V I scored a 75% so I studying a tad bit more and took it 5 days later and got a 84%. Just a few more right answers can really bump up your score. Good luck!

@RN2BE, I studied the book thoroughly, took the practice test, then browsed through the forum reading about tips and previous test takers experience.

I will be taking it for the first time next week. But people suggested the ATI book, TeasTime, and the McGraw study guide.

If you don't mind me asking, what study guide did you use?

Hi! I took the TEAS V at the end of January after only 2 weeks of studying and buying the online assessment (form b) and scored a 75.3 (proficient). I met with my prospective nursing school and was advised to take it again. I had to wait 60 days before my next attempt; therefore, I took it again on April 16th and scored an 88.0 (advanced). That being said, I studied a ton from the ATI manual and my a&p book along with google (lol) and biology books, chemistry books, etc. I am a little upset that I did not score higher on my second (and last) attempt, but 4 hours in front of a computer is hard! Make sure you practice timing yourself and keep up your pace during the math section because you might run out of time. Best wishes!

The first time I took mine I scored a 74% when I took it again and scored 86%. I did not study anymore than I did the last time but I took a chemistry class so that helped a lot. I also noticed that I had the same test the second time around and relized that I misread some of the questions the first time around. I think that was mostly due to nervousness so read each question carefully.
