Who's Hiring New Grads?

Published

Who's hiring new grad nurses in the phoenix area? I am a recent new grad waiting to take my boards and actively looking for employment. I graduated from a ASN program. I am willing to relocate anyone have any leads?

I would love to see an educator actually work with patients - most would run for the hills in fear if they actually had to implement half of their half-baked "initiatives." That especially held true at Banner...fortunately not at my current position.

:yeah:

I am glad you found a job easily. But back in 1993, jobs were not out there for new GNs. I worked in a hospital on the weekends several times a month as CNA, and that did not help. The jobs weren't there.Period!

Someone did post a ways back that grades and work in their field should help them get a job. Maybe it did for them, but what I am saying is my own personal experience, and from my friends. As of yet, I don't know if the rules have changed.

Please don't be condenscending. You are embarrassing yourself.

Ouch! Hit a nerve, did I? :lol2:

some great info.. After reading all these posts it seems so weird to me that the University of Arizona is offering all paid tuition for their ABSN program if you work for them for 3 years.. I am wondering why they are doing that if there are plenty of new grads.. I live in the San Fran bay area and there aren't any jobs for new grads/ I have been accepted in a school in southern Ca where they offer you a scholarship if you work for them for 2 years. Very scary though because you arent offered to after you start.. I don't think there is anything that says they can't pull. Wondering why any of them today are offering scholarships if they have tons of applicants.. hmmm....kinda scary

DMSKOKA,

In an Arizona Daily Star (Tucson newspaper) article, one local hospital said they will begin adjusting enrollment and investment in sponsored tuition programs.

hee not good news. Do you remember what local hospital?

thanks for the info!!!

TMC. Others will probably follow.

Remember, it was TMC that did not have jobs for all their sponsored students this year. Although they did receive a free education with no committment they also were unable to find jobs as most jobs were secured by new grads months earlier.

Times are just getting worse right now. I've had friends of mine with tons of experience unable to obtain hospital jobs...

WOW THANKS for that info!! I had no idea. I figured if you signed the contract then you had a job.. Just terrible..

Excuse me for hijacking this thread, but we just had a staff meeting last week with our DON and Nurse Manager of a busy Neuro ICU here in Phoenix who informed us that long gone are the days when you can walk into any facility as an RN (experienced or not) and get what you want as far as a job.

In other words, they told us that "You're lucky you have a job here because Nursing jobs are becoming scarce and no one in the area is hiring right now"...I know sometimes they like to put the fear of god into you. All a part of their Nursing Retention program :anbd:, but it really is getting bad out there for new nurses and experienced ones.

*sigh* I never thought I'd live to see the day!

Unfortunately, it happens every 10 years or so. Next we'll hear in the news poor financial numbers from the hospitals. And I don't recall hearing the american hospital association lobbied washington for a part of the stimulus either.

yes it does seem to go in cycles .. I remember the early 90's when nurses where getting laid off. Hopefully it will cycle back.. my timing.. the worse.. now if I hadn't had taken 5 years to do my prereqs but then was working and have to just move forward now ...
