Hello everyone! I'm curious to know if you know of anyone that has changed since attending school or after graduating? I know some people tend to act "high and mighty" and totally forget that they had to start from ground zero. Do you know anyone like that? I anticipate some change but for the better. I'm not the kind of person to let "titles" change me but some people might not know how to handle it. I would love to hear your thoughts.
:plsebeg:Please don't forget who you are and never forget where you came from.
Take care,
Stephanie:wink2:

I can't say that I've been changed in the superficial ways. I've accomplished a lot, and so feel really good about myself.
I've changed a lot within. I'm much more happy. I've found that the path I'm on is truly the right one for me. I'm more focused too. Even though the transition to being a nursing student has been tough at times (and there were some very challenging/questioning days/weeks), I'm now very organized with my time and purpose. I guess to sum it up, I'm very effective now because I'm "on purpose". Very gratifying.

hopefully, school changes everyone. it opens you up to new ideas that you were never aware of. are the changes for the better? let's hope so! do you ever forget where you came from? no, but in some cases you learn to improve upon some old colloquial ways that were ingrained in you that you really need to drop because the educated world has moved on.
Thank you for replying. I know that going to school will make me a better person and teach me new things. But there are people who take this experiience and think they are better than everyone else. I think we all know someone that went from down to earth, easy to be around and then they start to talk down to you or forgot that they started out as an CNA or whatever the job was before they started/and or finished school. Embrass the changes to come. Become a better you and use your educational experience as tool to encourage others to go after their goals.
I can't wait to start and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
School starts Sept. 2nd. I wish you all luck and much success!

School should change us all. Not that is has to change us in a bad way. I look at it like we have a new career and a new life and yes, things will be different. We all will experience things we have never experienced before. It is because of some of the things that we have experienced (good or bad) that inspired us all to go to school. So forgetting where we came from I don't think is an issue.
I think the type of person who is going to act arrogant and better than others because of their achievements is going to be with this style any chance they get, whether it's becoming a nurse or anything. I know the type, and know what you mean. These people use any chance they get to elevate themselves by using others/titles, etc. You're going to find them anywhere, whether in school or work, etc. My advice-don't shrink around this type (don't let them use you as a stepping stone), and don't take it personally (it's truly a personality flaw that won't get them too far anywhere!).
I quickly re-read your post, and saw what you meant from a different angle-so sorry for the two posts!
