Who does your daily blood work?

Published

I work on a busy surgical unit and right now RNs are drawing the daily blood work at about 6:00am every day.

I know that in some hospitals the phlebotomy dept goes to each unit to do it but the RNs would do stat tests during the day.

So, who does the daily blood work at your work place?

Thanks.

we have techs drawing all blood except from piccs or cl, only nurses draw those. each department or floor has to draw their own, excpet rehab and no one seems to know why they rehab or special and get the lab techs to do their blood draws.

Phlebotomist draws routine draws and ABG's. Nurses draw if the patient has a PICC or Port.
