White scrubs- Keeping them WHITE!!

Published

Hello All!!I am currently in a RN program, and our uniform is white tops, and white bottoms. Any tips on how I can keep my uniform White?? ex. Like what detergents would you reccommend???Thanks!!

I swear by Oxiclean (the powder) -- you can just toss a scoop into the washer with the detergent, or, if a stain is really bad and stubborn, let it soak for a while in a more concentrated solution of the powder.

If your uniforms are a synthetic blend, as most are these days, don't try traditional chlorine bleach (Clorox, et al.) -- it works wonders on 100% cotton, but will yellow synthetics.

I wear white uniforms also. I have always used Tide w/Bleach. Never ever use chlorine bleach unless the scrubs are 100% cotton, most are not. If possible hang dry outside, there's something about the sunshine that makes it extra white.

The old Oxydol brand of soap powder detergent used to work wonders for me. It came in a green box. I would mix it with Ivory Snow or Dreft brands to give it the nice 'baby' smell. I'm guessing anything oxyclean would work (don't do whites anymore!).
