Which states have unions?

Published

Just out of curiousity, which states have unions for nurses?

I am still a student, but looking for a state offers the option of joining after graduation.

For those nurses that belong to a union (please mention your state) what is your opinion (pro and con) of a union.

Thanks and here's to a healthy and prosperous 2009!

WA has some hospitals with unions and some non-unions....

I would imagine that most states have some union and non union facilities.

Here in SF Bay, CA, most hospitals are union. I don't work in a hospital but still am union. I strongly believe in unions and am glad they are around. Not everyone thinks this. Many people think its a waste of money but I have personally seen the grievance process in work and think its a good thing. I have gotten involved in my union and see the good that comes about.

What I do find highly annoying is they way the too largest unions CNA and SEIU are constantly at each others throats. That kind of fighting helps no one. :nurse:

Here in PA there are both union and nonunion hospitals. I will be starting at a union hospital next week as an OB Tech, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Just thought I would let you know of the union status in PA.

Are there any states that are leaning towards becoming unionized like CA?
