I am an LPN who is planning to return to nursing in August. I am wondering if I will be able to get a job since it is cheaper to hire a medication aide. Does anyone know which states don't have medication aides? Thanks
No I do not but I would NOT worry about getting "a job". I would check out, in your area of where YOU want to live
Good luck and let us know how we can help.

I think its useful to keep in mind that medication aides give medications only. They do not function as nurses, or replace them. You would still be needed to administer treatments, do complex dressing changes, documentation, etc.
With that said, I know here in Maryland they utilize medication aides in LTC. I work with LPNs in acute care, though, so that might be something for you to think about.
What areas interest you?
Thanks for your messages. My favorite areas are correctional, psychiatric and LTC. I am worried that this August the want ads will say "Medication aides wanted not LPN's". Even worse, I am worried that If I am hired I will be asked to supervise the medication aides.I am worried that if a medication aide makes a mistake I will be held liable since I am the "nurse".I am also worried about the extra paperwork that will be expected of me if I am not passing meds.
