Which shift do you like most of the two?

when i was a pca i worked 7a-7p and it worked for me. i had 3 little kids then.now i have 2 teens and 1 pre teen and a toddler. however when i finish nursing school. i would like to work 7p-7a. my friend is a clinical manager, and she works nights and she loves it. she's a night person. she says she likes it because she can be home if something happens to the kids while she is home she can get them in cadse of emergency. versus not being able to leave work to take care of her kids.

In terms of the shift, I prefer 7pm-7am, but it does cause problems in the rest of my life. I stick to the schedule, so on my off days I still sleep later than most people and stay up late at night. One thing about night shift, we really do have to work together and it is more of a team. This is really apparent at staff meetings, we all come in hugging each other and happy to see one another whereas day shift sits in separate little social groups looking angry. This may just be MY place of employment, but the day shifters all seem to hate one another and have a lot more drama amongst the nurses. They fight a lot. They are very cliquey. The staff meetings mostly consist of them blaming each other and us for things.

Again, this may just be my particular hospital. Can't speak for others. I must also say I am not naturally a night person, I have always been a morning person. BUt I like the shift enough to do it.
