Which state is best for ABSN and DEMSN where i can do prerequisites and take the admission into the program? I am in California and heard lot of students finish with prerequisites but not able to get into the program?

Hmmm, hard to say which state is better then others but I can at least share the basics for my area of Florida (just my city not the entire state).

My local 4 yr university requires the following:

* GPA requirement of previous degree is stated as 3.1 HOWEVER they have not taken anything below 3.4 in the past couple of terms and most of the accepted GPAs were 3.7 and above due to the large number of applicants.

* They also accept an essay along with the application and a list of professional accomplishments to help in balancing out a lower GPA.

* I believe there is also an interview which can additionally help those with lower GPAs.

* They typically have about 500 applications every application period (I believe they only do one a year but no more then two a year) and out of that number, they take about 25 students

When I attended the info session for the ABSN program, I was told the best bet to insure acceptance is to get an RN degree from an accredited program in the state of Florida and then transfer over to the BSN or RN-MSN program. Having an in-state RN would pretty much insure acceptance into their program.

I have a friend that completed her RN out of state and they did not accept her (even though she is from here and got her LPN from a Florida school) . She had a good GPA and all, but with an out of state degree, they weren't interested.

I would take a look at how many schools there are in each state vs. population, which may tell you which state might be easier to get in??? In my city, there is only one public university for ABSN and I am in a large metro area, but there are also about 4 private schools that offer an ABSN for a much higher price and I heard they don't really turn too many ppl away. If you are willing to spend the money or rack up the student loans then take a look at some private schools.
