Plz. advice all the informed nurses to a foreign med. grad.
Hi Selunurse, I am glad you achieved your goals no matter what. I am in CA and here even going to CC is quiet challenging like A& P Classes have wait list. Some UC's receive 800 applications ABSN/DEMSN for 80 positions and heard mostly are highly qualified. I think i might have to leave CA in order to pursue nursing but i am still thinking which way should i go. The whole process is very long & complex. I want to thank you for all the advice you have offered and wish you lots of success in your future endeavors. My email is fmgdratyahoo.com. I am not sure if you received my PM? Thanks once again, God bless

Accelerated programs...expensive or cheap?
Hey John, It all depends if you can afford to pay that much. JHU is very reputed school and you will land a good job after finishing but the salary will depend on the degree you get. You might work 30 more years and JHU chip will look good if you can afford and live comfortably. BTW where did you do your prereq's and how much time did you took finishing it? I am also in Bay area. Gud Luck

Thank you so much Sellunurse, I had been looking for some FMG who is pursuing nursing . Im In california and heard i need to do all the prerequisites including science and non science, which will take around 2 years and DEMSN will take another 3 years, so 5 years of more school. I am just thinking hard but im passionate to work with patients and love medicine. Is there any place i can do prereq fast and i can goto good school? I heard about FIU and is in my list. Why am I a B student?
Hey Herasheis, You are very much right. Change your strategy for solving questions and practice makes a man perfect. Study hard and practice. I am sure if you are making so much effort, you will get A's. Just try to figure out whats not working in getting A's. Be observant about yourself and work hard to achieve your goals.

Why am I a B student?
I will say after reading the subject try practicing questions on the computer if its feasible. I had vast knowledge but when it comes to question, i was not able to pick the right one, so i did practiced the technique and how to get the right answer because after all it was the score that was important. Only question i will ask you is nursing your real passion??? If not ,then that might also be the case.

Career Switching and Schooling Questions
DO more research on where your passion is? So that you don't make a mistake again. Just like duck was never trained to swim find your natural talents and your true passion. Did you look for mental health counsellors related to children? They make 45/ hr in CA. My bro - network manger making 120 K Wish you best!

Should I make a switch??
Go where your passion is but just make sure ladder to success is laid on right wall.

Which path would you choose?
There is one more option, going to foreign school and whole program will cost you $2,500 for BSN in 1.5 years and living is very cheap. My friend had BS degree from US and he went to Philippines, finished the BSN course with no loan, passed NCLEX and now making $40/hr in nursing home and over the weekends he is teaching at schools- $50/hr. I don't like the idea of loan and you survive to pay it which is really tough. Another option is ask for scholarship for ABSN if you have good grades. Might help you with less loan. If i were you i would prefer the ADN route and study and work part time. In this field experience has more value then education. If you get both you will reach top, so first route you will save money and gain valuable experience. Hope this helps you. All the best.
