  1. Hi Selunurse, I am glad you achieved your goals no matter what. I am in CA and here even going to CC is quiet challenging like A& P Classes have wait list. Some UC's receive 800 applications ABSN/DEMSN for 80 positions and heard mostly are highly qualified. I think i might have to leave CA in order to pursue nursing but i am still thinking which way should i go. The whole process is very long & complex. I want to thank you for all the advice you have offered and wish you lots of success in your future endeavors. My email is fmgdratyahoo.com. I am not sure if you received my PM? Thanks once again, God bless
  2. Hi Sel U nurse, Please can you tell more what you said above about LVN program and then enter into ABSN program? DId you tried DEMSN programs?
  3. Hey John, It all depends if you can afford to pay that much. JHU is very reputed school and you will land a good job after finishing but the salary will depend on the degree you get. You might work 30 more years and JHU chip will look good if you can afford and live comfortably. BTW where did you do your prereq's and how much time did you took finishing it? I am also in Bay area. Gud Luck
  4. Time to get a new hubby !!!
  5. Which state is best for ABSN and DEMSN where i can do prerequisites and take the admission into the program? I am in California and heard lot of students finish with prerequisites but not able to get into the program?
  6. Hey Sel U nurse, Heartiest Congratulations !!! This is a big thing. I just sent you pvt message. If we could speak, i do need your advice. Wish you best,
  7. Hi selunurse, Where did do you do your prereq's for ABSN program? Are you going to FIU?
  8. Thank you so much Sellunurse, I had been looking for some FMG who is pursuing nursing . Im In california and heard i need to do all the prerequisites including science and non science, which will take around 2 years and DEMSN will take another 3 years, so 5 years of more school. I am just thinking hard but im passionate to work with patients and love medicine. Is there any place i can do prereq fast and i can goto good school? I heard about FIU and is in my list. I will very much appreciate for your reply.
  9. Hey Herasheis, You are very much right. Change your strategy for solving questions and practice makes a man perfect. Study hard and practice. I am sure if you are making so much effort, you will get A's. Just try to figure out whats not working in getting A's. Be observant about yourself and work hard to achieve your goals.
  10. I will say after reading the subject try practicing questions on the computer if its feasible. I had vast knowledge but when it comes to question, i was not able to pick the right one, so i did practiced the technique and how to get the right answer because after all it was the score that was important. Only question i will ask you is nursing your real passion??? If not ,then that might also be the case.
  11. Sleep improves memory so does proper diet and physical exercise. Work all day makes jack a dull boy.
  12. DO more research on where your passion is? So that you don't make a mistake again. Just like duck was never trained to swim find your natural talents and your true passion. Did you look for mental health counsellors related to children? They make 45/ hr in CA. My bro - network manger making 120 K Wish you best!
  13. Go where your passion is but just make sure ladder to success is laid on right wall.
  14. Glad things are working for you. Wish you best.
  15. There is one more option, going to foreign school and whole program will cost you $2,500 for BSN in 1.5 years and living is very cheap. My friend had BS degree from US and he went to Philippines, finished the BSN course with no loan, passed NCLEX and now making $40/hr in nursing home and over the weekends he is teaching at schools- $50/hr. I don't like the idea of loan and you survive to pay it which is really tough. Another option is ask for scholarship for ABSN if you have good grades. Might help you with less loan. If i were you i would prefer the ADN route and study and work part time. In this field experience has more value then education. If you get both you will reach top, so first route you will save money and gain valuable experience. Hope this helps you. All the best.
  16. Please can any one tell how valuable are private schools for BSN degree Like West Coast, AIU, Kaplan at San Diego? I went to USF and counselor mentioned that many people finish prerequisites and are not able to get into DEMSN as number of application: number of students enrolled 1: 15. I am just thinking to finish prerequisites and get into ABSN and then apply part time for MSN or by getting it done from private some schools get BSN degree in 39 months and only entrance test is required for that. They will help with prerequisites also. Ultimate goals is to get Masters. Please any advice would be appreciated.
  17. Apply to nursing homes and then jump to hospital. without experience no hospital will hire you. My friends joined nursing homes and then worked in hospital with few years of experience. Second option is - personal connection. If you know any one in hospital - could help you getting employed. Third option- Pray and never give up.
  18. Thanks The squire, I have considered PA program but as compare to NP, PA cannot practice independently which is the main drawback. You have to depend on some doctor to open your clinic. I plan to work in rural area and serve humanity.
  19. Hi Cindy, You can start home health care nursing or hospice or become talent coordinator.
  20. Thanks every one for your replies. I did goto foreign medical school and passed USMLE's but i am not able to get into residency program. Its big waste of money and time but i figured out i love medicine and cannot think of any thing else. Being NP would be only way to practice medicine in US. I did lot of career counseling and medicine is the best profession for me which suits me best. I would like to stay where my passion is irrespective what hardships i will go in future.
  21. Thanks every one for reply, I passed med school and after extensive research about my career planing, i was thinking to go for nursing and proceed with MSN. I am not able to get much information about prerequisites like i have to do all the prerequisites or any thing could be waived? I understand nursing is also getting saturated but if some one is passionate, then you can still beat the odds.
  22. I have gone through book " Now What" and you will come to know which would be best job for you. I am sure it will help you.
  23. I checked with community college in bay area and surprisingly i have to take test and start with physics, biology and chemistry, so that nest semester i can take A&P and in total it might take 2 years to finish the pre requisites. Please can any one advice is there faster way to do this and not do GED and physics, chem and biology which i studied 20 years back. Please advice me? Thanks
  24. Hi OMW2help, I am wondering how they do labs online. Where did you do Anatomy, Physiology, microbiology with labs? I am in San Jose. Thanks
  25. Please can any one let me know where i can do prerequisites for ABSN or DEMSN in San Jose area, i checked Community colleges and seems classes are all packed?
