I am planning to attend Charter college. There are no prereq's required for the LPN program. Is there a problem with this? It is a 15 month course. The course from start to finish is a little over 50,000 which includes books , scrubs, etc.... I don't yet know how much my fafsa will be. Is there an average amount they give you? I just wondered if there is any left for living expenses..I plan to be working pt as well, but I need all the help I can get. Any Advice?

50,000 dollars??? for lpn?? that is ridiculously expensive! Im doing my lpn this year and then bridging to RN and those three years alltogether is way less then that. look for other schools.

U need to rethink that the price is wayyy to high my program was only 12k with everything included is this a private school are they nlnac accredited be very careful of this. The job market is horrible for new grads what school a d what state im in pa my program was 12 months no prerequisites and fully accredited. Be careful rethink ur options.i don't think this school is a good choice sounds shady and money hungry
Thank You for the very helpful advice, I agree it is way toooo high..
Would you have any suggestions which school? I was looking into Excelsior online. They are accredited..

You cant become an LPN online at Excelsior. You can only bridge from LPN to RN. Find a good LPN program at a community college. The for profit colleges are very expensive and don't care about your qualifications, they just want your money.

"Charter College" isn't on the State's list of BoN approved Schools. http://www.doh.wa.gov/hsqa/professions/Nursing/documents/ApprovedSchools.pdf
The "FAFSA" is going to net you around $5500 a YEAR in grants.
$50,000 is a foolish amount of money to pay for LPN school. FOOLISH. That is what you'd pay for a full BSN from UofW or WSU.
Actually, I just looked at Charter's website. They don't offer a nursing program of any kind.
Charter College :: Career focused education in Business, Health Care, Criminal Justice and Information Technology
If they are telling you they have an LPN program it's not accredited, it won't transfer to any other school so you can plan to start from scratch if you ever want to advance your nursing education.

I suggest looking into local technical schools for LPN programs. Avoid "private" schools at all costs (pun intended).
The program I'm on the waitlist for at Bellingham Tech is around $6000 after books and supplies.

I went to a state assistance sponsored program and literally, paid only for my books, so, basically, it was almost free....I could understand if it was for an RN DEGREE but they are ripping you off, please don't sign anything, and think about your local community college and you might be able to get financial assistance.
