Which was the hardest pre-req class?

Published

I am working on my future class schedule, and was wondering, what has been the most difficult pre-req that you've taken/or are currently taking? What makes/made it particularly difficult?

My pre-reqs consist of : college writting1 , fund. of speech, anatomy & lab, Physiology & lab, microbiology, psychology, growth & development, sociology & data processing concepts

I'm curious, what are yours?

Thanks in advance!:D

WHOA now! I was reading all of the posts and thought, gee, how nice it would be to go back to pre-reqs and think, I hate this!

TAKE THEM SERIOUSLY and when you get into the nursing classes you will find that all those mean, hard, nasty teachers will be your saviours. I use my algebra to calculate drug doses DAILY and cannot pass my nursing classes without them - how would I calculate drug doses for peds if I can't use basic algebra to find out if the doctor screwed up an order? Or if pharmacy screwed up the dose (and they do!) I use the dreaded chem classes to apply the acid base balances and EKG's I need to understand. The microbiology is necessary for basic nursing skills and protecting my patients and myself from those nasties I encounter on the floor. A & P is a no brainer as far as my nursing skills go -- without knowing everything they taught me I would be lost on assessment.

Okay, I will admit philosophy was tremendous, but I learned tolerance of boors and can deal with some patients/families by taking the deep breath I learned from that class. Oh, and English Lit? I learned to write so I can do all the reports required of me now. Believe me, do NOT take these classes for granted or as wasted as you will really NEED them!

JUST WAIT! You will find that nothing you have learned is wasted. You will NEED this stuff in real nursing classes because your instructor's will EXPECT you to have acheived the mastery of them. Believe it.

PS.... lack of spelling or grammar doesn't count in this post, but it will in your many, many written assignments in nursing school.

LOOK TO THE GOAL, learn all you can. You will need it. Every semester they weed out the people who did not learn what they needed from the pre-reqs. EVERY NURSING CLASS I HAVE TAKEN WAS WORSE THAN ANY PRE-REQ. And every nursing class fails several of my classmates which breaks my heart.

Yes, I agree that you need all your prereqs, but I find my Nursing classes much more interesting than any prereqs I had to take. I don't think anyone was saying their prereqs were unnessesary, just difficult. So far in my school we've lost one person and one person dropped out. No one has been "weeded out". I don't know if you are going through BSN or ADN. I'm going the BSN route and it's taken a long time to get to this point and the instructors know this. They help us out as much as they can and want us ALL to succeed. Seriously, how can anyone pass all the science courses with a good enough gpa without knowing most of the material?
