I cannot say much for the professors since I just started. I 've had lots of interactions with the director. She is very nice and helpful. I currently have the same professor for 2 nursing courses. That is the down side of the Manhattan Center. It is small and one does not have much option when choosing classes/professors, unless one chooses to take classes at Garden City at the same time where each course has several sections. There is only 1 section for each nursing course in Manhattan, so choices are limited. We have more options for clinicals. On the other hand, it's very cozy and we all get to know each other and we have easy access to the people in charge.
I currently attend Adelphi and am a bit insulted that someone called it a "career" college. I am graduating in May with a Bachelor's of Science in nursing. You cannot get a BS at a "career" college. Also, the program at Adelphi has become quite rigorous. Alot of changes have been made since I first started there, and no one is just skating through the program. I am also doing clinicals at some the top hospitals in Manhattan; therefore, top hospitals in the country, and if Adelphi had not prepared me, I would not be able to perform at the level I am during clinicals. Adelphi is not a "career" college, it is a private university. There is a difference. I feel very well prepared to start my career as a nurse this summer with the education I have received at Adelphi.
BTW, many of our professors are doctorate level RN's. I don't think they would be teaching at a school that wasn't worthy of their time.
