  1. Run don't walk away from that job! They are totally abusing you!
  2. Hi I am a Adult NP and would like to gain family credentials go as well. I think I have to go through a post masters cert program? Is that right? Can anyone recommend an online program? TIA
  3. Thanks for the reply! Do you have experience as an NP?
  4. Hey- Just wondering if someone could tell me what the job market for NPs is like in this area & what salaries are like? Are there positions in hospitals for NPs or more in private practice? TIA!
  5. I worked in NSLIJ in Glen Cove for 5 years. It is a great community hospital. They recently opened a brand new ICU/CCU/Tele unit. I don't know what your career goals are, but Glen Cove is a nice place to work, but you won't get the same experiences you would in the bigger hospitals in the system HTH
  6. hi - I graduated from NCC eight years ago - which is a long time ago, but I think a lot of the same prof. are still there. I think it is an excellent program and really prepared me for 'real' nursing when I began my first job. Good Luck!
  7. I graduated from Adelphi and I really liked it
  8. I want to apply to TWU, but my chem course is 5 years old (I think they require within 5 years)...do you think I could take an online chem course?
  9. I am currently attending Walden's Ed. program. It is harder then I expected. Each week you need to post in a weekly disscussion which is like writing a paper. Besides that, you are required to respond to three of your collegues, using refrences in APA style. in addition, each semster you submit 2-3application papers which are 3-5 pages, also in APA style. I don't want to discourage you, but I went in to this program thinking it would be cake, but it really is much harder then a traditional class would be.
  10. Clinically, patients with low sodium can become confused as well as have a ton of other issues. Treatment depends on whats going on with the patient and the cause of the hyponatremia, but MD's will usually order a fluid restriction to treat the value. If I have a patient with an abnormall lab value like that, and am not sure if the MD is aware, I would check their note for the day. If the level is there, then I document in my note that the MD is aware. If the value is not there, I call the MD and document that they were told etc. You'd be surprised, i worked with some MD's who didn't know how or didn't want to use the computer and waited until the printed lab reports were placed in the chart, which could be a day or two later! Good Luck!
  11. Nursing school is hard! If you're focused you can through it. I did all my pre-req's before I entered the program so I could focus on the nursing aspect (I could not imagine A&P AND nursing at the same time!). Good luck!
  12. With something like that, if you're not sure, ask the oncologist or surgeon who put it in. I don't think there would be a problem with flushing it, but I could be wrong.
  13. I just moved to the Louisville area and work at Baptist east. I get $1.00/hr more on the weekends, and the 15% diff after 3pm. Hope this helps
  14. thanks for the info!
