Which is the best employment deal for Australia?

Published

Based on the cost of living in each of these areas, could you please give me your opinion on the best deal in terms of pay. All these are for new graduate pay, and I have offers as follows:

NSW (A$39,911)-Far West Area Health, Toowoomba Health Service District

Queensland (A$38, 583)-Gympie

WA (A$ 40,000)-Graylands in WA

Consider the fact that I am a new US graduate planning on moving to either of these places

Ditch the "far west" deal. There is a strong possiblity that it would be for a very small rural/remote hospital and that is NOT a good place for a new grad from another country.

You have another thread on this forum and some good responses there.

The cost of living in Perth is okay. That $40 000 that you post is probably going to be a bit more when you add in overtime and shift penalties, Not to mention that we are currently going through wage negiotations with the government. Have worked in mental health for 10 years (not at Graylands though) and still enjoy it, although like any job it has it's moments !!

Perth is a beautiful city, very laid back and easy going and there is opportunity for you to travel down south to wine regions and up north to beautiful beaches.

Goodluck deciding

have a look on the royal perth website. they have alot of info about cost of living ect in WA and also are looking for mental health nurses. Was just looking tonight myself. UK sucks. coming home. Need job.

i am so glad to be coming home. I hate the NHS and as this present moment feel like living off my Aussie Visa card for the next month and quitting work. I have never worked in a place so bad.

Where do you work? and why is it so bad?

What a great opportunity for you! I have visited there in the past and just fell in love with both the country and the people!

I will be a US grad in May. Any advice on how to get job offers in Australia?

Thanks

Question for WILL's MUM (from another Will's Mum)

My beloved eldest sister is thinking of going to Oz / Perth to be exact.

Her daughter and grandchildren are emigrating down-under June 05.

She is a Registered Nurse & Health Visitor (Community N degree) working on behalf of Health Authority with Youth Offenders. She is nearing retirement (60 next year) although can work in the UK till 65.

Thinks she can get same type of work in Perth or do community nursing.

We say she's too old. We don't want her to go.

What's you'r verdict?

Hey Brigid

Your sister might just be able to get a job in Perth and until age 65. She may not qualify for Permanent Residency via her job but because her children and grandchildren are emigrating, she may qualify under some family category. I assume (and I've been taught never to assume.....lol:) ) that she has done some ground work about working here and immigration laws. You can't stop her if she wants to come over here. You can come and visit her while she is here and who knows you might just like this land enough and live here permanently!
