Just curious...for those of you about to finish NS, or for anyone in NS, where do you want to work when you're done and has that changed since when you first started? If you changed your mind, is it because of an experience you had in clinicals or did a particular class pique your interest?

Cardiac telemetry for a year or so and then either CCU or ED. What I wanted when I started.

I was originally wanting to start out on a regular med/surg floor, but now I may re-consider to start directly into the ICU because I am destined for great things and I wouldn't be able to accomplish that on a med/surg floor.

My ultimate goal is getting my RN after I finish my LPN. I want to end up in NICU. I'd like to try L&D before the NICU.
Have always been facinated and intreguied with the whole pregnancy, labor and delivery process. The after care doesn't interest me. And after having two NICU babies, my interest was peaked even more.

I would love to do NICU! But, not right after I graduate. I'd love to do L&D first (after some med-surg) and then I might go into NICU. However, I'm thinking about becoming a diabetes education nurse. It's one of the biggest diseases in the US right now, and it's amazingly interesting to me.

If I can get a really good orientation, I'd love to start in the ICU. Med/Surg isn't ideal for me, but I'm also open to starting there simply for the great experience it'd provide.
When I first entered my nursing program I hadn't a clue as to the numerous options available within the nursing profession. I had planned to be a NP. Now I'm not so sure. After 1-2 years as a RN, I'll go on to graduate school for either FNP or CRNA. We'll see what happens.
Thanks for asking :-)

I initially wanted to be a psych NP, since I already have a psych degree. I'd thought about maybe working in substance abuse or an eating disorder clinic. Now, I want to work in ICU after I graduate for a couple years, then apply to CRNA school.
