Where do I start first?

Published

I am a senior in high school, and looking in pursuing nursing. I had a school in mind which only offers LPN degrees. I love the school and what they offer, but I don't want to just be a LPN I would love to be a pediatric nurse. My thought was to get my LPN that way I can have a job while I work on getting my RN. would this be a good way to start out? After I get my LPN Can I start nursing school right off the bat or will I have to go through 4 years of Gen-eds? :)

I am NOT "just an LPN". I hold specialty tags that permit me to practice in areas that RNs can't without exactly the same courses I completed.

If you are so determined to not be JUST, go straight for the BScN.

Specializes in OB/NICU.

Becoming an LPN doesn't allow you to skip your general Ed courses. You will still have to take them. It should not take 4 years. 1 to 2 at most.

Two years is average for the prerequisites from my own experience with them and what I've seen. You're never Just an LPN. There's no way around the prerequisites no matter what path you choose after getting your LPN license.
