  1. My nursing experiences have not been the greatest. I have many family members in the medical field. All but one is looking for a way out. I'm getting out of nursing also. Thankfully, I don't have a Bachelors degree in nursing so I can still get student loans. In my next job if someone bites me they go to jail. If a Dr gets nasty to me I'll be looking for someone else to care for me. The heaviest thing I'm lifting is a book of some sort. I'll finally be able to sleep without hearing imaginary call lights in my head. I'll get something good this time with daytime only hours.
  2. Use something like gradreports to see real reviews of nursing programs at schools before applying. A majority of for profit colleges aren't teaching properly. Leading to a huge number of people failing Nclex. The test changed in 2013, it became much more difficult. A higher number of select all that apply questions.
  3. Starting in 2010, the military wants a minimum of 1-2 years acute care experience before you can become a commissioned officer. As for a job there are many places to apply outside of a hospital. If the area you are applying in has too many new grad applicants, try another area.
  4. It's been especially difficult studying. Without getting into a big explanation, my R.N. school was one of those scammy places with low pass rates. This was my 2nd attempt.
  5. Although I'm nervous about getting 265 last night, I'd be more upset if it cut off early. It looks like most people who pass get 75 questions or 265.
  6. That's incredible! Congratulations on passing!. You are now in the grueling 265 question success braket!
  7. Took my nclex RN last night. I went all the way to the end. I know all about the PVT. I did it for my LPN but, I don't want to check it for this exam. I studies a long time using Hurst, Uworld, and the Nclex RN Mastery app. I feel like the study materials were several levels above the test materials. I've had other friends and classmates pass after getting all the questions. Does anyone have information about percentages? Specifically, what percentage of Nclex testers pass after getting all the questions? I've done many internet searches and can't find enough information to get even a rough idea.
  8. Take any job you think you can handle. The reason I say this is, some employers have unreasonable expectations of nursing staff. If you live in a big city, you may want to apply to smaller towns. Smaller areas normally do not have a lot of nursing schools. So this gives more employment opportunities.
  9. The quality of education for nursing at many Rasmussen campuses is abysmal. 50-60% overall NCLEX pass rates are terrible. I'm surprised this company is still in business.
  10. Im only very infrequently on the any nursing forum. I dont have experience with other private colleges so I wouldn't know if students were getting passed along without putting in the effort. Ive spoken to my classmates who passed and im unable to find a difference in how they prepared for nclex vs those that didnt pass. Its not about trying to duck personal responsibility. Everyone has a different reason for choosing an alternate path to a goal. In my case, my science prerequisites were about to expire. Because of finances, it was now or never. When I first started going to college part time, the gpa required for program admission was 2.5. The core classes were different also. Sudden and drastic changes were swept in. Eliminating a huge quantity of people from the potential RN school candidate list. 1 public program in a 50 mile radius. No one to offer guidance and no one to talk about the NCSBN NCLEX pass rate records. As for what attorneys have said. There arent enough victims yet. Some potential validation for a lawsuit include: Misrepresentation of services Theft by deception Attempt to defraud Breach of contract Breach of fiduciary duty
  11. Southwest Fl Tech Institute is one example of a school not teaching well. A pass rate of 33%
  12. Many of the RN schools in Florida are very new. Even my former LPN instructors were unable to offer guidance regarding private colleges. The state keeps official pass rates for every nursing program. No one tried to assist me in my choices. I live in a fairly small town with one public college. The public college continued to alter and increase requirements for acceptance. While my gpa wasn't the very highest, it was still well within the 3.x range. I did all prerequisites at the public school. I made huge commutes for the RN program. Many verbal promises were made throughout the time I attended. There wasn't a standardized curriculum and the school relied on ATI to teach you what they weren't. This was grossly insufficient. A class action lawsuit is what I've decided to start. I've been in contact with a few attorneys this morning.
  13. I graduated from a public LPN program. No one failed the NCLEX. The public RN program has a nearly 100 percent pass rate. RN graduates are not being taught correctly for pass rates to be that low.
  14. I was checking official nclex pass rates for all rn programs in the state for 2014. My school is maintaining 66 percent. Many others are @ 25 to 50 percent. Its down right fraudulent. I've just contacted a law firm and I hope to hear from them tomorrow.
  15. Due to the high rejection rates by public colleges for nursing, Florida has become inundated by private schools. They promise a competitive education to the public schools and a chance to be a Registered Nurse. The reality is the majority of these schools are only after the 50 or 60 thousand dollars per student that they can steal. While difficult, many schools only provide the illusion of an adequate education. The reality is a different picture. New nursing graduates completely unprepared for the NCLEX. By the time many find out they've been cheated its too late. They have a degree in nursing and tens of thousands of dollars in debt. Its a mystery to me how schools with consistently low first time pass rates are able to remain in operation. I am one of the 50% of my graduating class that still hasn't passed. Many of us have made two or even three attempts. Student loan repayment has begun. We've tried the Hurst reviews and everything else available. All of us have jobs either as LPNs or other field's. What are our options? Try for acceptance into a better public or private school? What about the loans? What about legal action?
