I'm finishing up my first year of med-surg on a renal floor at a downtown hospital and I'm looking into other areas of nursing. The options I have considered are private duty nursing or school nursing.
Where did you go after med-surg? Do you have any experience in PDN or school nursing?
Thanks!

The best thing to do after a year of Med/Surg is another year of Med/Surg. Nursing school doesn't teach you how to be a nurse; you learn that on your job. A year of nursing is just a beginning; it takes about two years to become competent.

Im in the same boat as you Cathrirnexi17. I have just under a year and a half of experience in med/surg and oncology. I'm ready for a change as well but, I don't know where. I haven't found the right opportunity yet. I never wanted to work in an acute care setting in the first place. Its been a good learning experience and I know its the best place to start.
One friend of mine just left the hospital for a job in dialysis with just a year of experience...
