Kaplan University online NP program ?
I don't have any information offer but, free is what would make the decision for me! And the extra clinical hours would only give you more experience....the most important thing in my opinion is accreditation!

Where to go after first year of med-surg
Im in the same boat as you Cathrirnexi17. I have just under a year and a half of experience in med/surg and oncology. I'm ready for a change as well but, I don't know where. I haven't found the right opportunity yet. I never wanted to work in an acute care setting in the first place. Its been a good learning experience and I know its the best place to start. One friend of mine just left the hospital for a job in dialysis with just a year of experience...

SSM or BJC
We have primary care sometimes but not often. I work on a renal floor.

SSM or BJC
Well the medicine floors at Barnes are rough and they are mostly primary care. But the surgical floors aren't as bad I don't think. I would say look for a surgical unit like thoracic surgery, colorectal surgery, gyn oncology etc. there are a lot of tele floors too if you like that.

SSM or BJC
Yea with 3 years of experience, you won't have a problem finding another job at all. I would say it depends what type of specialties you like. There are a few that aren't bad.

SSM or BJC
I live in florissant so St. Charles is closer than Barnes for me. I don't know how the commute from St. Charles to Barnes is but, I work with a few people who make that drive. I don't think every floor has every 4th weekend but my current floor does. It is nice! Good luck with your job search! I'm sure you'll find something that's day shift. How long have you been a nurse?

SSM or BJC
I work at big Barnes and I decided yesterday to stay there due to the benefit package and a small pay increase, that came completely out of nowhere. The reason I originally applied was to switch to day shift, and as in the same week days became available on my current floor. So, once everything was on a level playing field it was difficult to chose.

SSM or BJC
I just finished up my first year as a staff nurse at a BJC hospital and I am debating if I should switch to a hospital in the SSM hospital system. The floors are about the same med/surg type floors and the pay is very similar. One floor has every 3rd weekend (SSM) and the other has every 4th weekend rotation (BJC). I think its the work environment that will be my deciding factor, but I won't really know until I'm there. Anyone have an opinion about the two? The job with SSM would be at St. Joseph in St. Charles. Thanks a lot!
