Where to get varicella titer-- and fast!

Hello,

I went to Walgreens for my physical/vaccines/etc, but the one thing I needed that they couldn't do was a titer for varicella. I tried my primary's office, but the woman I spoke with had no idea and wasn't particularly helpful.

The thing is, I need to have the titer done, read, and ready by Wednesday because I'm not going to school here in South Florida-- but in Alabama. Orientation is Friday, and yes this seems all rushed, but we weren't given much time between acceptance and orientation. The students in AL did everything at local places that already knew what to do for the school, but I'm in this odd place of a situation.

Please, is there anywhere in all of South Florida where I can get the varicella titer done by Wednesday the 3rd?

The turn around time is around 3 business days generally depending on the lab. You can google walk in lab centers like access labs but they are not permitted in all states. They generally require cash payment. Many states require an order from a licensed provider (MD, APN, DO, etc)

Thanks, JustBeachyNurse. I had seen the accesa labs, but I was worried about using a direct lab testing service. I'm going to try the places you suggested. :)

You only have to get the lab sheet and go to quest or lab corp

What do you mean' get the lab sheet'? From where?

From your dr.... a prescription for blood draw to do the testing. I did mine at quest. You can also go to any test now http://www.anylabtestnow.com/tests/varicella-titer/ or my test express. My test express comes to your house .. mytestexpress.com
