Where are each of you in the EC program?

Published

I am just begining with EC and I was looking to get a post going with any other new EC students wanting to share. I'm not looking to set up a formal study group just a chance for any interested EC students to find others who may be working on the same NC. I am starting with NC1 and then MAYBE micro, depends on how strong I feel :)

I've just started working on NC3, I tested and passed NC2 last wednesday. I'm shooting for mid December or before for this one. I don't work OB so all of that info is less familiar than the nursing process and med/surg stuff. Have you taken the information literacy class? That's the only one, other then NC 3-7, that I have to take.

Happy Studying, it's nice to meet you:)

Hi Willtm!

Yes, I am in most of them (I would guess). The groups are very helpful and I always seem to find a study bud for whatever class I'm preparing for.

Are you almost done studying for it? When do you test?

Good luck to ya! NC3 is a mountain of information to learn!! But...I guess that's true for all of them!!

Congrats on passing NC2. Is the information literacy class something all students must take? If it is, it must be a new requirement from EC.

Thanks:) Apparently it's a fairly new requirement. I think it's one of the new EC online classes. When I called admissions yesterday about registering she said everyone has to take it.

willtm - congrats on passing NC2. NC3 has a tremendous amount of information to absorb regarding the maternity/neonate. I believe it is a requirement that everyone take the info lit class.

I have that class, NC3-7 and I was told I have to take the Lifespan psychology course.

Nice meeting you also!

Medic2rn, Yes I noticed that it's pretty much the entire ob textbook ont he test. Did you print Lisa's notes from Yahoo? They help narrow down the field of information and they follow the EC study guide pretty closely.

On the info lit class, did you take it through EC? What kind of class is it...is it a computer class? I plan to take it during the wait for the CPNE.

Yes, I do have Lisa's notes. If you have some type of NCLEX review book, that will help you also with regard to the OB section. I use Saunder's Comprehensive review and it's great.

I have not taken the info lit class yet. I plan on taking it along with the Lifespan while waiting for the CPNE. I heard the wait is extremely long.

I have the same review book. I didn't really use it much for NC 1 and 2, but I agree that it will come in handy on the ob part. I've heard the wait is 6 months for the CPNE. I've also heard that EC is opening a new site in the mid west, I haven't heard when though. I'm hoping that by the time I get to that point the wait will be a little shorter.

I think I heard Amarillo?? for the new site.

Keep in touch with me and let me know how you do in your classes! We seem to be at the same point in our EC studying - it's the closest thing we have to a classmate!

Happy studying!

Some place like it, if not exactly there. I have not heard anything official though. Have you checked out the EC site now that you are registered and can get into the EPN. They have chats with "facilitators", they might have info regarding that. What ever you do stay away from the boards there. The people who post there don't seem to be doing so well on the tests, it's kind of scary!

Are you a memeber of rnstudygroup at yahoo? They usually have weekly study chats on wednesday nights at 9pm eastern in the nc3 subgroup. I participated in one for nc2 and found it to be helpful. They went through the 100 things to know, people asked questions and discussed diets and different things from the 100 things list.

How long are you taking to prep for each test? The first one I took about 5 weeks and felt like I was forgetting the stuff I read first. The second one I studied for about 3 weeks. I'm not sure I can do nc3 in 3 weeks though, there's a lot to the OB section.

Happy Thanksgiving

I have a question regarding the study groups. How does one get into or invited into a study group?

I want to shear with you this great program about ECG. It can help and guide you to understand the different rhythms of heart. Also it has nice game. Thanks for re-posting this site. I saw this some time ago but didn't book mark it. Thanks, your right this is probably the easiest way to visually recognize the different rhythms.

Thanks
