I'm seriously considering changing careers and would like to learn more about nursing. Before I start taking classes I think it would be a good idea to shadow a nurse for a day (or half a day depending on the shift). I live and work in NYC. Any suggestions/tips/advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you.

I don't think you'll be able to do that considering HIPPA privacy laws and such. Try to volunteer...than you may be able to see the nurses at work first hand...but I've never heard of someone (who wasn't a student) just walk up in a hospital and shadow a nurse. It doesn't work like that...too much risk.

Call HR at a local hospital and ask!
Good luck in choosing!

When I was in nursing school, I had a high school student shadow me....She wanted to see what nursing school was like.
I am *think* that the large teaching hospital I work for has a shadowing program. You may have to give personal info, sign docs etc...I am not sure. Yes, contact HR and find out...
Good luck.
