Where area can I work in with this limitation?

Nurses Criminal

Published

I have a misdemeanor that will likely get expunged after I finish nursing school but I will have to wait 2 years before it can be expunged. I was told, "The Nevada State Health Division will not allow you to work in any capacity in a facility for intermediate care, facility

for skilled nursing, home health care, or a residential facility for groups."

I am wondering what this leaves as an option? I assume immediate care means I wouldn't be able to work in a hospital ER nor a quick care facility.

Where would I be able to work?

Thank you

That's a tough sell ....have you actually been accepted into a nursing program, yet? I don't see how you would even be able to complete the required clinical rotations for nursing school.

You might be able to work at clinics, doctors offices, insurance companies, schools, university health centers, jails, blood banks, or any number of workplaces that do not require inpatient care.

Sounds like you cannot work with vulnerable people, if so, you most likely cannot work with children, elderly, or cognitively impaired.

I don't think intermediate care is the same as hospitals as they are considered acute care but you would have to clarify with the state health division. In addition to commuter's suggestions of insurance company or blood bank, it may be possible to work as an infection control or occupational health nurse, some type of additional education will likely be required for IC or Occ Health..
