When will I get into the nursing program

Published

I am wondering if anyone knows how to find out where you are on the list of students waiting to get into the nursing program. I am in Tempe, AZ. Last time I checked there were 1776 on the waiting list. I signed up last Oct (06). It is getting very frustrating. I know that it is a lottery, but where in the world does it put the people who signed up months ago. Do they put us with the same people who signed up in the summer? Anyone have any suggestions or comments? Thanks.

A 'lottery' selection process and a 'waiting list' selection process are two entirely different things. If your school does has a lottery, you'll need to reapply each application period.

yeah if its lottery pick that means they are picking at random or choosing people with higher scores. A lot of them use your median score to see how many other applicants did better than you. I am assuming you took an entrance test.

I would suggest you get some other training while waiting. Students I know have training in various healthcare related fields such as Medical Assistant, Phlebotomy, CNA, EMT, EKG, even Respiratory Therapist. They learn something while they are waiting to get into a nursing program so that once in they are in they are ahead of the game. Plus it keeps you busy while you are waiting to get in. :)

Also, taking a few Spanish classes is a great idea. I can't tell you the number of patient's I haven't been able to talk to because I can't speak Spanish.

Thanks for the info. A couple of you had me a little scared to I decided to call the school that has my paperwork. She told me that I do not have to reapply, all my paperwork is in order and that it looks good for January. I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am taking Spanish lessons. Plus when I started there were more requirements than there is now. Much of the classes I have taken are now included in the program.
