When you go for USPHS - when do you get your physical?

Published

I know when going for active duty you go to the MEPS/physical pretty early on in your application process. If you go USPHS, when and where do you go for your physical?

Thanks!

I understand ....I have a start date of Apr. 7 and a TDY date of 3/28.... I do not have any current outstanding blips on my report, they have all been resolved, but my report has not updated everything. I am also sooo ready...

Did you or do you have to meet with an investigator?

No - haven't met with anybody about it, hopefully - won't have to...its just been a long process with a lot of faxing and mailing. I should own stock in kinko's, lol. My wife and I have been looking at places to rent by Ft Riley, but can't do anything else until I heard a definate yes. I'm hoping that it happens soon.

I too will be relocating...and my wife has been looking for housing..........The process has been lengthy enough....

I hope that you do not have to meet with anyone....

I did just have a conference call on friday with LT Zach... it helped answer some questions, for example, we don't go to the housing office on post for getting the usphs move our household goods...and we will need to fax our deers paperwork to the USPHS prior to us going to the ID card office on post. Where are you looking at getting stationed at?

I have been offered a position in Alaska.... How long did it

take for Rockville to update/approve your medical docs?

I am really excited about the usphs and everything. I am

just ready to start. When did you begin the process? I began right before Christmas.

My medical should be fine... I am not prior service but I considered

joining AMEDD and a healthcare career in the USAF. I believe that the

usphs is a great fit for me ... It will allow me to serve my country, improve the lives

of others and have input in where I want to be stationed.

Also , the usaf wanted me to take 3 more College courses....

Are you prior service?

Yup, I was in the army as a medic for four years. I got out to go to school and get my RN. You sound like you made the right choice then. What will you be doing in AK? Will you be in a clinic or on a ward? Do you have any kids?

I will be in a hospital.... Yes I have 3 kids.... They are

excited about the move. Did you do green to gold or just

separated completely. Either way it sounds like a good move

for you also.... Have you received your T&E ....do you

know what rank you all have? I'm received O-2

My son's excited because my in-laws live near there....I seperated completely in Aug 2001...I got O3 for my T&E...then I could make O4 in about 2 years...I'll be working in a mental health clinic as a laison for active duty soldiers and the mental health clinic...How is the physical fitness aspect going with you? Do you work out?

Physical fitness is good ... I strength train and run

but lately I have been slacking a bit. I just need

congrats on the 0-3 that's awesome.

Thanks, it will be different when I will be in a completely different uniform compared to everyone else. I will be wearing BDU's mostly, because since I'm on the post and I was told by LCDR Dumbar that I should be able to wear BDU's. I will double check, just in case...but they look totally different then everyone else's. Looks like I will have to wear civilian business clothes for the first week. Its will be a little strange to work there because I was stationed there when I was in the army... Now I will go back as an officer.
