When to expect official offer?

Updated:   Published

To give you a little background of me, I am in my last semester of nursing school and graduate in early May ? I'm really excited! I am currently an intern on a medical-surgical  unit. Back in December, I applied for a position and spoke to my manager about it. I was told they wanted me to stay and I told them I wanted to. It makes me really happy! I didn't have to interview for this position since it's on the same unit I work. However, I haven't received anything official yet or in writing such as the offer itself, pay, and start date/how orientation works. We only discussed this in person.

Is this bad? Or is it just too early? It is only March after all.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

You might receive an official/contingent offer once you graduate (contingent upon your passing the NCLEX). I wouldn't really expect an offer prior to graduating from nursing school.

Specializes in Vents, Telemetry, Home Care, Home infusion.

Best Wishes in securing this position.  Keep studying to pass those final classes, and exams then onto NCLEX --- you can do this.

Update: I've been offered a position and accepted it :))

Specializes in LTC & Rehab Supervision.

Congratulations!
