When anxiety strikes :(

Hi , im just a new member in this site and im currently waiting for my att schedule.. i have been reading the saunders comprehensive 5th edition for almost 4 months and im still on chapter 26 which is maternal and child nursing . I feel that i still have a long way to read and im not even on half of 75 chapters of the book :( One of my friends who just passed the nclex for the 3rd time advised me not to finish the book because it is to many to finished and it gets boring sometimes.. She told me that i sould go straight to Q&A and just answer questions randomly .. Shall i listen to my friend or just continue to read all the chapters till end ?

I am also in the same boat. I couldn't stick with the book Saunders. I finished 3/4th of the book. Then bored. So now I am doing the Q & A one topic in three books(GI in Saunders , Lippincott and mosby). And reviewing content in saunders. So far I finished 2 system. It takes lots of time. But It works well. The problem for me is, I have only 23 days left for the exam. I don't know whether i am in right track. Good Luck for your exam preparation.

My test is tomorrow morning and I haven't finished the book nor will I. My body is starting to exhibit anxiety related signs and symptoms. I still have 5-6 chapters (pharmacology and issues in nursing) left in my schedule. Last evening, I just decided to go with practice tests.

Forcing myself to finish the long chapters won't even guarantee that I'd retain all those information. Answering the questions though would allow me to practice to think and analyze similarly for the real test.

I hope it works! Good luck to everyone!

Content and practice questions, are both equally important is what I think and know. When you get bored with reading chapters, switch to doing and reviewing questions. Once you are comfortable with contents, just stick to question/answers/rationale. Also, It is just impossible to catch up on everything and to keep in head. Just a suggestion.

Goodluck!!!
