New nurse feeling overwhelmed and miserable!
Thanks RN2012Newbie for your response. I really need that encouragement and I feel happy when people say you will see light at the end of tunnel after sometime. I am hanging in there and will continue to hang as much as possible. I know all I can do is work hard and give my best every day I work. Thanks again.

New nurse feeling overwhelmed and miserable!
This thread has given me so much power and inspiration to move on with my new job as I am also a New Graduate Nurse. 2 months of orientation ending this week and soon will be on my own from next week. This feeling of anxiety, overwhelm, stress is all I relate to as well. When I do things at work, I feel pretty good on some stuff I do, but when I am unsure or just have self doubt about something I am bout to do, I just ask whoever nurse is nearby. But, I realized that when I ask questions, some of the nurses think I am incompetent or I don't know stuff. This makes me sick to my stomach because I know I am not incompetent. Its just that I am new and want to do everything safely. But, there are others who answer all my questions. This feeling of what next shift is gonna look like keeps me very anxious even on my day offs. I just can't wait for it to be 6 months like most of you said here. Any words from you is going to be very encouraging to keep myself moving forward. Thank you.

I can really use any help at all. Please help me fix my daily study routine.
I don't know how Hurst review is, but Kaplan Q-Bank was so much similar to real NCLEX for me. But, we all know everyone's test is different. I would say stick to what you have and include PDA to it and just go with it for 1 month that you have. And go over 30 some pages Nclex review posted here somewhere in all nurses. When you do questions, make sure you review rationale for right and wrong answers. Do apply your critical thinking skills starting now because they do require it a lot. Good luck to you!!!

hi guys i am going to give rn exam in next month ,,, i am doing kaplan qbank
I agree with everyone above. I suggest do not ignore the unknown topics you come across while doing questions....it will hunt you later too. Goodluck!!!

84 questions on NCLEX-RN
Number of questions doesn't really help you decide as far as I know. Did you do that trick yet? I heard it works most of the time and it worked for me too. Goodluck!

Got my first job in Trauma Unit!!!
Hi guys, Millions thanks to everyone of you who post here and keep others updated and encouraged. I am a new grad BSN, RN and I landed my first job in Trauma unit. They have given me with enough orientation period. But still, I am quite nervous about it. I just wanna ask you guys for any suggestions, 'do's and don'ts' and 'keep in mind' things from anyone who work or have worked in Trauma Unit and surgery. Good luck to everyone who is still in job hunt process!!! Thank you

When anxiety strikes :(
Content and practice questions, are both equally important is what I think and know. When you get bored with reading chapters, switch to doing and reviewing questions. Once you are comfortable with contents, just stick to question/answers/rationale. Also, It is just impossible to catch up on everything and to keep in head. Just a suggestion. Goodluck!!!

Nclex friday!
Eat good because you don't know how long you might be there.......don't let hunger distract you.......and yes they don't allow you to wear jacket and watch...there will be sample questions before real test question comes up...although your time will be ticking while you do these sample questions....I would suggest you do it and not just skip in one sec (you have to answer them anyways)...because this will allow you time to calm down and relax a lil bit........and then move on to real questions...everyone might not agree with me on this but it sure helped me to set up my mind and go smooth in the beginning of the exam. Goodluck!

failed nclex-rn
Very sorry to hear that. It is a learning experience, you will get there...a lil late may be but you will get there. I want to ask you that did you take enough time during the test? Because my test was so hard and required lots of critical thinking and for that I had to take time to answer each question. I even changed my answers lots of them after thinking for a while and I passed with 75 questions. Now, I don't mean that you should change answers or take 10 mins each question, but allow urself good amount of time to really think next time you take it because I am sure every question requires critical thinking. For now, give yourself time to gather yourself.....start with your weakness when you are ready... Goodluck!
