Nursing is a profession that often involves long lonely night shifts in eerie hospital wards. It's a perfect breeding ground for ghost stories. These stories often involve sightings of apparitions, strange noises, and unexplained events that are said to have taken place in hospitals, hospices, and other healthcare settings. Some of these stories are believed to be based on true events, while others are purely fictional. Regardless, they continue to captivate and intrigue both nurses and non-nurses alike - providing a spooky glimpse into the world of healthcare after dark.

I used to watch "Most Haunted," but unfortunately it was outed as a fraud. I felt so gullible. I always thought that Derek guy was over the top. I really believe in TAPS, though. I think they've proven themselves to be very credible.
ah!!!! i knew it!!!!!! i saw most haunted a few times (i'm from the UK), and i always thought derek was a fraud, especially the time he was "possessed" by a 18th century theater actor - still talking with his scouse accent - although he tried to make it sound grand and posh!!! lol
Most Haunted is a fraud. I expect Ghost Hunters is too, but I'm hopeful because they do seem to be a lot more credible. I'm the biggest skeptic in the world, so it would take A LOT to convince me absolutely about ghosties.
I used to watch Ghosthunters alot, until they started having ridiculous celebrity guest stars on their investigations! I now watch Ghost Adventures on Travel channel :).
I once worked in a nursing home and took care of a lol who had renal failure and went for dialysis at least 2 to 3 times a week. She was also on fluid restrictions and was only alloted so many ounces a shift. She was also senile! She would always say "Nice nurse you gonna get me some water?" lol. Anyhow, she somehow got MRSA in her dialysis shunt and had to go to the hospital for a few weeks. While in the hospital she got a horrible Stage 3-4 pressure ulcer. She came back to us and we had to do bid dressing changes. We would premedicate her with Percocet before the dressing changes. Well she got sicker and sicker and refused to eat. She was also a DNR. The morning she died, she kept begging us to "Dont let them take me" She was screaming and begging not to die. When that poor woman died, she had a look of horror and terror on her face. I have since wondered what exactly came to get her? I have been with patients as they have took their last breaths, and they were absolutely peaceful. I have actually seen people die with a smile on their face. It makes you wonder if the life you lived is what you are judged by?

One more..... 15 years ago my precious baby boy died at the age of 5 years old. He was severely mentally handicapped and multiple medical issues from birth. (he is the reason why I am a nurse) He passed away Oct 15th 1995 after another bout of pneumonia. Basically his neuro doc told me that the only part of his brain that was working was the brain stem, and he was on borrowed time prior to his passing. After he died, I would beg God to let me see my baby boy one more time. God never answered my prayers and begging him until 13 years later............. I had a dream that I was holding my son and were in our old house in the living room ( I used to hold my baby for hours and hours) I could feel the warmth of his skin, the softness of his hair, and his scent. This dream was so real and vivid, and I swear to you that I actually was holding my baby boy. I woke up crying and thanking God for the greatest gift. This dream was on my 40th birthday. You need to understand, that prior to that wonder experience, I had NEVER had a dream of my baby boy. Just that one time only, I havent dreamed of him since...... A few weeks after my sons funeral, I did have a dream in which my grandpa and I were walking in a field (he was a farmer) he was holding my hand and told me "Your son is safe and I am watching him and taking care of him. You dont need to worry anymore". I havent dreamed of my grandpa since either........... God is great and he answers prayers and requests, you just need a little patience sometimes.

Why do you assume it was something evil? Because it was a black shadow? Did you ever stop to think it was a family member watching over?
She was afraid of something she hadn't come to terms with. Doesn't mean it was the "grim reaper".
Why are you so sure it was something evil because you were scared? That's pretty premature. Maybe it was a family member watching over the person. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean a shadow is evil. Give all of us a break.
Oh i have to jump on this. This is my story and I'm sticking to it. I'm really big in the paranormal. Matter of not only am i a ghost hunter in my off time. I'm also a don't freak a Witch. I worked in a old nursing home and in its day it was the county poor farm and psych hospital. In the winter when people die they would keep the bodies in the basement No I'm not kidding until the ground thawed. I worked the grave yard shift. 6:30pm to 7:00am.
We have had strange things happen there. Whirlpool tub would turn on call lights would turn on in an empty room. We have seen spirits. My Charge Nurse who knows what I am trust me they all knew. And when strange things happen she wouldn't let me leave her side. In a way its funny. One night i got sick of it you know. Things go bump in the night well i bump back. So one night at work things were going ok but then things started to happen.
If you don't know this the real witching hour is 3:00am not midnight like most people think. Well i brought my spritboard to work that night my charge nurse freaked she asked what are you doing i said I'm summonsing the spirit or spirits to us she freaked went to the breakroom i had one brave aid to summons with me i wanted to know who they are and what do they want. Things guys and i tell you as sure as I'm typing this went crazy.
Call lights started to go haywire. My charge nurse came out of the break room and she was like what the heck. The tub turned on we had many spirits that night. and they started to talk through the board. Nicole my partner in crime or in the summonsing part seen something and to this day wont speak of it. Nicole left the nursing home shortly after that. And has not stepped foot in a nursing home since as far as i know.
I left the home also after that not because of fear because i had my dream job open up and i landed it. I see the charge nurse every once in a while at Walmart and she ask me still if i do what i still do. Oh back to the end of the story. The next day i was called in from my DON who asked me what went on last night and asked me never to bring my board back in the building And i got a write up. While being there we still seen things out of the corner of our eye. MY Charge Nurse claimed its a man in a red shirt and overalls.
So let me tell you this if someone dies open the window let the spirit out. If things start going bump in the night ignore it because it might become worse. And never and i mean ever summons or think you can summons something to you that you yourself can't banish you might not want what you get. And at night in a small nursing home out in the middle of farmland we do have to much time on our hands LOL Happy Samhain or Halloween
Yes, God is great Wendy. I'm so glad He gave you that very real dream. Did it give you some comforting closure?:redpinkheOne more..... 15 years ago my precious baby boy died at the age of 5 years old.
