Hi, I was wondering about some of those weird names that you've probably encountered in L&D and PP. I remember when I had my maternity rotation a couple of weeks ago, one of the nurses said she remembers a patient that named her child Placenta. I couldn't believe it that some child has to live his life named after disgusting afterbirth!
when i was in the navy a , a man who had changed his last name to Starcruiser named his children Venus, and urorifice
Now thats just WROOOOOOOONG
Also Vergina
Marci
We had a mother who's last name was Baer and she named her son Teddy. Teddy Baer. What are people thinking.
I usually don't interfer whena patient tells me the name of her newborn, however....I did voice my opinion when a patient told me she wanted to name her baby Meconium. She had heard the doc and the residents talking about meconium throughout her labor and thought it would be a cute name for her daughter. I had to tell her what Meconium was..and then I did have to try my bedt to convince her that she really didn't want her baby to have that name! ( it took some time for it to sink in, finally her family applied more pressure than I did)
I went to school with a guy named Chip N. Dale (his REAL name...not a nickname and his middle name was just 'N.')
The other day I had a patient name her daughter Blessings:confused:
For Nurse Dennie; My daughter is also a RN and she was in NICU. She had a patient a few years ago who actually did name her twins Orange and Lemon except it was supposed to be pronounced Oh-ranzh and Lee-mohn. And, I swear their last name was Jello but it was supposed to be pronounced ZHE-loh.
Abcde-pronounced Ab c de,how sad is that?
Yoni. It's Sanskrit for lady parts. Apparently there are quite a few people with this actual name, although now with all the new age tantric sex stuff it's a fairly common nickname on the internet.
we had a hispanic lady that named her child "FEMALE" because she like the fact the nursery nurse named her on a crib card.
pronounced fe mal le
